Another 'help me accessorise' thread

After a fabulous recommendation on MN, I have this dress in my short list for my 40th.

Stop Staring Ava Dress

I wouldn't wear a necklace, my hair would be up 1950's style probably with a flower of some sort.

Now my question is, what colour's to put with it ? I'm 6ft tall and happy to wear heels (size 8, not platforms) - but feeling a bit lost with choices and don't want to do black.

Any ideas welcome !!

I personally really love red with blue. Not navy - a lovely bright pop of colour. It stops it being too oonsy-floonsy girly-wirly, you know?

Aquamarine is a good contrast colour with red, in keeping with the retro theme. Not sure about aquamarine shoes though.

I'm also stuck on style of shoe...

I'd go for black courts with a slight platform - the dress is incredible I wouldn't want the shoes to compete. Purple would look great.

Thanks Spring - i know what you mean. In my mind (rightly or wrongly) i think of Black being a safe option...i'm in quandary..i'll have a look at purple too! Do you think a very deep purple?

I think the purple in the Zara link would be fab - in fact those shoes would be perfect but they are high and you are tall - depends how you feel about that. A very dear friend of mine was 6ft 7in and he used to wear platforms - he liked the attention.

Think purple works because it's in the same colour grouping, orange might work too, pink might be too much. But purple would be my favourite. Black will be fine, you are not playing safe with the dress, so I think it's ok to play safe with the shoes. Another option would be animal skin, zebra, leopard etc any will work, just pick your favourite.

Love the colour of those shoes Spring, they are beautiful...i'm 6ft tall, those platforms & heels would take me to about 6ft6" - will hunt down an alternative though
