Hi,

Right, I had dark brown reddy hair this morning from dying it.

I used a colour correcter and its turned a light brownish...

see here, the lighter one is now obviously

sorry for the face blanking Grin

Anyways I did this because I want blonde hair...

I went to the salon just now, had a patch test and showed them this photo here ...

this is what i want!!

but i don't think im going to get it from them :s

they said it will 'be like that but same colour as your hair now but highlighed to a hney blonde'

basically I dunno wtf she was saying and said it would be £80 Shock

I planned originally to do it myself so i have

lightest brown dye

ash blonde dye

bleach and peroxide

toner

..... could my sister do it for me and if so how??

id like the dark roots i think.

Oh I don't know I wish I never bloody strted now... i feel like if i go the the salon it wont be what i want but i'll be ££ down!!

Oooh, i dunno nuffink about nuffink but I really like the lighter colour and your hair is lovely.

BerryLellow · 11/07/2012 18:34

I really wouldn't do that yourself if I were you!

Maybe get another salon's advice? If you want it to look good it could take a couple of appointments, going lighter in stages. What sort of dye, bleach and peroxide have you got?

HairTodayBlondeTomorrow · 11/07/2012 18:34

well im not going to do it myself, my sister is 18 and done hers loads and its always looked gorgeous, so im leaning towards trusting her?!

theres not many salons around here and i feel out of place they are all snooty :(

Well okay. I'm not suggesting she hasn't got lovely hair, and it might work out fine but it's a risky business!

I'd be using a high lift product eg Wella Blondor lightening system with 12% peroxide, and that lifts well BUT if you have reddish tones in your hair beware of orangey yellow disaster!

Is there a training college near you? They do discounted 'dos' and there's always a tutor on hand.

HairTodayBlondeTomorrow · 11/07/2012 18:44

i have 12% peroxide,

oh i hate going to the hairdressers, they are always so snobby and ive NEVER gotten what i wanted :(

think you need to wait for dunkywhorey to come along and advise. step away from the hairdye until you get some better advice!

dundeemarmalade · 11/07/2012 18:47

sorry berry xposts. and so true about risk of orange horror.

BerryLellow · 11/07/2012 18:48

We're not all snobby you know :)

itdidntworkout · 11/07/2012 18:49

Lightest brown will come out dark, it always does.

HairTodayBlondeTomorrow · 11/07/2012 18:51

If you have toner and light ash blonde dye you're pretty safe to go ahead. They will both neutralise the orange and yellow tones to bleached hair.

I do my own and others hair myself with no training. Havent had a disaster yet.

HairTodayBlondeTomorrow · 11/07/2012 19:00

laura, could i put the brown on first? as my roots are lighter than i want them... then use the bleach?
