I've just used Nair on my top lip. It's done the job, it's got rid of the few hairs that I swear are getting darker with age but..

It's gone very fucking red. It stings like a motherbitch and I have a job interview today.

What can I do to make redness go away? and to make it not feel like my face is going to split in two everytime I grimace smile.

I'm such a twat.

Oh dear Grin

Calamine lotion?

Then you will have a pretty, pink, feminine 'tache.

Loveleopardprint · 11/07/2012 12:02

Ice? Bag of frozen peas?
Good luck with interview.

sugarice · 11/07/2012 12:04

Cool it down with ice wrapped in a cloth. Don't suppose you have any aloe vera gel knocking around in a cupboard?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2012 12:05

Yes im currently soothing the soreness with the back of a cold spoon!

Ironic that the job interview is in a specialist hair and beauty shop!

I would say it needs more rinsing if it's still stinging.

Get a bowl of cool water and soak your face in it for a bit (being careful not to breathe in / laugh too much of course like I am while typing this )

After that do you have any Aloe Vera gel to soothe it?

ohchristFENTON · 11/07/2012 12:09

Oh x-post about the Aloe.

applying an opened stem from the plant will work. ( I have done this with bites and burns and it does soothe - honestly - but definitely needs rinsing first)

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2012 12:09

it wasn't too bad until I put some veet finishing cream on it that had been knocking about in the back of my cupboard for several years. Only looked at the expiry date when my lip burst into flames.

I cut a bit of the leaf (at an angle so it grows nicely still) and bash it with a rolling pin - then apply the mush/juice to your lip.

valiumredhead · 11/07/2012 12:18

I did the same the other week - felt like acid on my face ANF it was the sensitive Nair!

valiumredhead · 11/07/2012 12:18

AND

sugarice · 11/07/2012 12:21

I can't use any hair removal cream, they bring me out in a terrible rash. I use one of those mini epilators for my top lip.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2012 12:50

It's not so bad now, I've got my makeup on just looks like ive been snogging someone with stubble!

ohchristFENTON · 11/07/2012 12:51

Good luck with your interview, Ferret. Smile

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/07/2012 12:54

Thank you! I don't interview well. On paper i'm excellent but then they actually meet and talk to me and soon change their minds...Hmm

JodieHarshHasALumpyPennie · 11/07/2012 12:59

Good luck!

My Dad always says "Enjoy it. It's not often you get the chance to talk about yourself for 40 minutes" Grin

sugarice · 11/07/2012 13:02

I always get brain freeze at interviews and a very dry throat Blush. Good luck Ferret Smile

fedupofnamechanging · 11/07/2012 14:26

Calamine cream is brilliant for this kind of thing. I did the same, last week and I wouldn't mind so much but the bastard hair remover didn't even get rid of all the hair!

Eliza22 · 11/07/2012 15:03

Tea tree oil.

MsOnatopp · 11/07/2012 15:08

Bahahahaha! The flower comment was BRILLIANT! Though I agree, maybe not for an interview Wink
