I would LOVE to be 5ft8.

I bought a pair from HM for £12.99 (they were orange so I thought I'd go cheap for a colour I would probably grow weary of pretty quickly). The fit is amazing, they come in a beautiful blue as well which I saw someone wearing with a breton top (which is what I wear with my orange ones) and I get loads of compliments on them. They have beige and black as well if you want to go neutral. Not sure if they are the best but I feel as though I've bagged a real bargain - and they are holding up wash after wash!
(I'm 5'7" so pretty close to your height for fit...)

I tried h &m they were a wee bit thin. I am slightly over weight ATM so I need thicker and better fit. I agree the orange looked cool

I have both a cropped pair, and a tapered pair from FatFace. the cropped ones are nigh on perfect

Got a really well fitting pair in the anthropology sale. The sale there is amazing

Gap slim crops are amazing and made of actual cotton which seems to be a rarity these days - nice thick fabric, good fit even on a pear shape and most probably in the sale. More relaxed style than in pic and you can turn up the hems too. Bargain at £7 now in the sale. I bought all four colours and then got dumped lost a shedload of weight and now they're huge unfortunately.
