Shopbop - customs charges?

Anyone used Shopbop? I am about to order a bag from them and it has given me the option to pay the customs charges upfront ($50) or to wait and pay the carrier. Does this mean if I tick the box to wait that I might get away without paying any charges??

There is always a small chance you get away with no customs charges if you pay Royal Mail. It's a gamble - the charges may be higher than $50 although you could probably work this out, remembering an handling charge applied by the PO.
