£200 Birthday Money?

hedwig06 · 06/07/2012 08:32

Well I've been lucky enough to have been given some birthday money Smile

I was wondering what all your stylish people would be spending it on?

I am trying to start buying more quality rather than quantity, which is really hard for me.

I think spending £26 on a pair of trousers from Next is a lot! That gives you a clue to what I normally spend.

I am size 14, 5ft 5in. With an hour glass, I have had a look at dressipi, but it come up with things that are rather clingy??? Not me at all.

Thanks for any help.

OK, well I know you're going to squeal in horror, but how about you buy 2 items that will last you years and years, rather than 10 items that'll last you a season..

I would highly recommend this Isabella Oliver wrap dress in black as a wardrobe staple. Its lovely weight jersey and can be dressed up or down.. Great for hourglass...

and how about a leather jacket which will go with everything for years and years:

leather jacket

or boucle is going to be big next season, i've just got this, its beautiful

Itsgottabebags · 06/07/2012 10:49

Look in TK Maxx for things that would fit in this season? They often have big brands if you have a good look!

What about a handbag?

MsTimTam · 06/07/2012 10:51

I'd buy a lovely handbag Smile

hedwig06 · 06/07/2012 11:03

necklace to spice up an outfit?

Itsgottabebags · 06/07/2012 11:29

Dress?

Put the money towards this?

Itsgottabebags · 06/07/2012 11:33

A treat?

I would recommend getting a few pieces as well - but not too expensive, but through rooting round in the sales in the good quality brands.

Like a black dress, that can be dressed up or down (like the one linked) with a piece of statement jewellery plus an accessory

Or, buy yourself an investment piece of jewellery (or the money could go towards one)

Or, some lingerie

Or a jacket as you have said...

What kind of style do you go for? Maybe we can recommend you some good shops to peep in

UML · 06/07/2012 14:05

And tkmaxx is brill, its just pot luck though sometimes, and you have to be ready for a browse :)

UML · 06/07/2012 14:07

There are also online discount brand stores like:

www.cocosa.com/Women/

secretsales.com/

and

www.brandalley.co.uk/

To browse through, they have new brands up everyday at discount prices.

-summer dresses (cute ones that tie up round the waist)
-sandals
-accessories

:-) As soon as it stops raining you can strut your summery stuff!

hedwig06 · 06/07/2012 14:42

Thanks Itsgottabebags, Uma, & Maryjanell79,

I've been looking on and off all day, I really like the idea of a nice leather jacket, but finding one is proving difficult as I have quite a big chest, and usually all the larges have gone.

Dress I don't normally buy as I don't really go out much, I would prefer to buy everyday things.

I might go to my local TKMaxx on Monday when the kids are at school and have a mooch, I've only been in before to look at the bags Smile

Thanks again for all the links I'm looking at them all xx

I bought this last month and its the perfect tan leather jacket in my opinion. Great colour, great styling, soft leather and great for big boobs..

They have a 14 left too I see in the sale ;)

tan leather jacket

The only down side is the lining is silk animal print - bleugh, but I can live with it!!
