Lightweight shower-proof jacket with a cotton lining - does it exist?

I'm not really one for coats in the summer, but I need something for when it rains. At the moment I just have a pack a mac type thing, but I find it a bit sweaty, and don't like wearing it when I have short sleeves underneath.

My daughters have lovely, lightweight macs with a cotton towelling lining - can you get similar sorts of things anywhere in adult sizes?

I want something really light, not too hot, not too long, basically the equivalent of wearing a cotton jumper or lightweight sweat-top, but waterproof, with cotton next to my skin.

Ideally it would also look nice, and not cost a fortune Grin Am I asking the impossible? Can anyone help me?

Watching with interest Smile No ideas though I'm afraid.

I got one from Millets a couple of years ago.

I just tried googling and first thing I found was this Grin

I have this coat, it's lovely on and was a steal in the sale. The lining is a light cotton jersey.

I am trying to decide if I like this: www.plumo.com/products/Khaki-raincoat.html

Lol Grimma Grin.

That's smart Douze, but warmer looking than I want - I want something short ideally, hip length.

Ooh that last one looks lovely! Just the sort of thing I was looking for. Bit more expensive than I was hoping though. Will have to have a think about whether I can justify it.

Seasalt have a couple in the sale, I think.

Maamekin · 04/07/2012 11:09

I got briefly very excited about the sale, but the only one in my size is made of polyester :(

Are seasalt a good brand? I suppose if it lasts for years, then it is worth spending a bit more initially

Seasalt website on phone very very irritating.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 04/07/2012 11:28

I am looking for something similar...off toWales by train an a couple of weeks and don't posess a waterproof.
I defy anyone to find a stylish waterproof.

mamado · 04/07/2012 11:34

Try petit bateau... they make their super waterproof kids raincoat in adult sizes too. Its plain blue or yellow with a stripy lining.... I keep getting compliments when I wear mine!

GoldenGreen · 04/07/2012 13:44

have a look at rainfrog as well

Maamekin · 05/07/2012 08:28

I like the Petit Bateau one but it is even more expensive - at least the Seasalt one seems more reasonable now.
Thanks for the rainfrog link too.

I think I spotted some in the Landsend sale.

laine55 · 01/09/2020 21:11

I'm still sooo looking for the same thing. I hate the sweaty feeling of polyester, especially on bare arms!
