How long to settle in with new skincare stuff?

I usually use Clinique 3-step but fancy something cheaper a change.

I bought some Body Shop Aloe (sensitive skin) day and night creams plus the eye cream today. I'm had in on my skin for a couple of hours and it's not stinging, so I don't think I'm going to react badly to it (am prone to doing so - can't use Simple, No7 etc.).

The saleswoman in the Body Shop said that I should give it a month before deciding if it really suits my skin or not, as that's how long it takes for skin to renew itself.

Is that right - as long as your face didn't actually burn off, would you give a new moisturiser a month before deciding if it's for you or not?

She did say that I could bring it back for an exchange if it wasn't right for me, so I don't think she was just trying to get me to use it up!
