First post! I am a 5foot and a half inch lady who is currently loosing weight. Am a size 16 on top and 14 on the bottom, have a wedding to go to next month and I havent a clue what to wear. Have never been mad into clothes ( cos of the fatness!) but am beginning to like myself more now. Any suggestions are much appreciated. I am at a loss as to what suits me. Carry my weight on my stomach and boobs. Am 38 by the way.

Pepperberry would be worth a look. What sort of colours do you like?

this (also in navy) would be great.

Thanks a mill for the reply. I am usually in black so I would really like to go with a strong colour, love the dress in red, it's really nice. I like deep blues too. I have quite sallow skin and blonde hair but really amnt sure what would suit me. Apologies for the crapness but I am a newbie to dress shopping.

Ah, right the navy would look good then. With bright accessories to compliment your skin tone. Don't think the red would flatter you terribly, which is a shame.

this would work.
this
this
maybe this

There's plenty of other places to look too of course, just more of a faff getting a good fit. How would you feel about separates or getting something adjusted to fit?

A deep red would be fab though.

Hi
Well done on the weight loss. Losing weight and feeling good...that was me nine months ago. Now I'm 37+ weeks pregnant and feeling HUGE!

Have you thought of using a personal shopper service at all? They can often pick out items that you would not think of that look great. There is no pressure to buy. Even if there isn't a service advertised if you ask I am sure a shop assistant would like the chance to go and search out some items for you - it'll make their day more interesting. In my experience shop assistants are usually v helpful (and if they are not... I don't buy from there!). Choose someone whose outfit/style appeals to you. Be open-minded too; some outfits look awful on the hanger but look fantastic on.

You will know when you have the found the right dress when you can't stop smiling when you wear it. You'll know.

Oh and just another thing: I found that wearing 'nude' high heels will make your legs look as they go on forever AND they can be worn with all sorts of other dresses (always good).

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the advice, I hadn't thought about separates at all PAMM but would not rule anything out. Will definitely check out a personal shopper sparkly. Am quite excited and a little apprehensive about shopping, I have lost 21lbs so far and hope to lose a bit more before the wedding. Amnt used to having options when buying clothes. Thanks again, I am rather overwhelmed with it all, you have all given me great ideas.
