New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

be still my beating heart. Can't decide if the colour is right for me, but I love love love love this.

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 18:04

Gorgeous Hopefully that would look really fabulous on you.

Yes lots of great stuff on there.

Ds1 really loved his new school. I should remember that he is likely to be fickle. I've been thinking about the whole school thing since before January. So I'm really pleased.

Hopefully · 05/07/2012 19:19

If one had hypothetically slightly ordered the dress I just linked, what the hell shoes would one hypothetically wear with it? Hypothetically speaking, of course Grin

Russianred · 05/07/2012 19:26

Nice dress Hopefully! I like the way it has been styled there shoe-wise; anything dainty will ruin the 'edge' of it, iykwim. Something like Pistols/Ambush etc would work I think. Lots of us have had success with M&S shoe-boots - on Pinterest.

blue2711 · 05/07/2012 20:11

Great purchase hopefully. No help re shoes I'm afraid as it's a very different style to mine, but what red says sounds right.

I realised that I've been a complete ditz and got my dates muddled re. a dear friend's 40th. Cue mad dash for present and flowers and apologetic delivery of them (the big day was Tuesday Blush). She's very nice and forgave me, thank goodness. But my dizziness also means that the big party I though was at the end of July is actually TOMORROW night! Normally I spend the week before planning and primping (that's a bit sad isn't it?) so it's all action stations now doing nails, applying fake tan etc. I'm thinking about wearing my Zara black lace shorts with my Rupert sanderson neon pink courts but what top? And are short shorts glam enough for such an occasion? I'd normally always wear a dress but feel a bit uninspired by all mine and don't really want to buy another (well I do really of course but DH raised a few eyebrows after Valorie and Gracie in last six weeks and I need to keep a low profile with shopping for a while...).

shorts are these ones but I need a dressier top

I am EM on Pinterest Blush. Slightly embarrassed that I'm following some of you because I don't post often so thought I should front up. Isn't Pinterest brilliant!? I'm enjoying working out new outfit combinations to try.

A few of you might remember me, I have posted on and off for a long time and I nearly sent Blossoming a much sought after Boden chiffon trim cardigan a while ago Grin.

Hope you don't mind me following you all, please say if you do! I will try to get a bit more involved on the thread and get to 'know' you all better.

blue2711 · 05/07/2012 20:16

Why don't you go the whole hog hopefully and get those amazing Camilla Skovgaard sandals they've put with it?!

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 20:22

Blonde yes I remember you and do stay Smile. I know I use my Mn name so I'm happy for lots to follow.

Hopefully get the CSs. I love this rather edgier look you are doing.

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 20:24

Love that outfit Bloss. Sounds fab. Black top?

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 20:25

Sorry Blue! Dark in here with dc.

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 20:26

Actually I really like that floral shirt in that fab pic.

Issimma, I haven't seen that blazer irl but it looks good and Whistles is usually great quality.

BlondeAssasin, I was wondering. I am following you now.

Those shorts are dressy enough, Blue.

Great dress, Hopefully.

My DD1 had her first ever school report, it said she is kind, confident and already has a strong sense of right and wrong and communicates that to her peers (does that mean she is bossy!? :)).

Glad your DS liked his new school, Marsha.

blossoming · 05/07/2012 20:51

Hi blonde, mystery cyclist is revealed! I am following you now too. Your pins really fit in! Funny about that cardigan. I haven't worn the replacement once. Tempted to say 'so last year!' Have had a style day since then and lost weight.
Hi issima! Can't help, but good to see you.
How lovely decam. What a great report. Did you cry?

pickledsiblings · 05/07/2012 20:55

That is a v. nice blazer issimma - you at least need to try it on at home with some of your geeky outfits. I'm not sure it will go with the leopard trews though Grin.

Marsha, it would look good on you that Blazer of issimma's, don't you think? As you know, DD is off to her new school in Sept, well what I hadn't bargained on was DS1 being quite so enamoured of it when we went to visit - he told the HM that his school was 'posh' Grin. Your DS1 may in time grow to appreciate his new surroundings as much as you do.

Dona, I think you may have missed your vocation Smile. It's lovely having you on the thread.

Lurkers welcome one and all.

[scurries off to finish day's work]

loobylu3 · 05/07/2012 20:57

Hello everyone!

Not doing a great job keeping up- not surprising really. Have also been a bit below par with mastitis, etc. Baby is doing well though and is a little sweetie. :)
The good news is that I can fit in my Gap skinnies and that I ordered bloss's fabulous black J Brand leggings in a 26 and can fit those too. Thank you++ to rufus for linking to a great bargain. They are so comfy and flattering!

The bad news is that I hate my tummy. :( I know it's only a week (nearly) but I will need to do something about it this time so what exercise- routine/ video really works? (NY/ bloss/ all other avid exercisers out there). I will try anything with a realistic chance of working (not straight away obviously).

All your Pin interests look fantastic. dona- I love that owl skirt and your colours. bloss- did you keep the slinky grey dress? I thought it looked lovely.

Hope poorly posters are recovering now.

MangawhaiHeads · 05/07/2012 21:15

Hello
Will try my best to be a good contributor. Am in awe of all the fabulous style.
Sitting by my DD's cot bed while she falls asleep. Awful habit I know. Had a busy day, met a few recruitment consultants this morning. Wore a blue NW3 dress with ballet pumps and lightweight mac bought at home. Had a visit to DD's new nursery this afternoon and wore an ancient Vanessa Bruno dress with floral cardigan, sandals and DVF tote.
Hoping for sun tomorrow so I can brave Wimbledon for tennis.
Thanks for the welcome, think I will be hugely inspired by you ladies.

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 21:17

Dec bossy is not a bad trait in girls

My DD1 definitely is very bossy and I'm secretly happy about it.
The nanny and I call her either Mrs Merkel or Mrs Thatcher depending on whether it is a Jekyll or Hyde day

Issimma check the blazer material IRL - is it viscose? Does it wrinkle? Unless it's designed to look rumpled and casual, you'll spend the rest of the year ironing it and it might still not look good Spending some money on a blazer makes sense - better to buy just one that is good than many that never look right.

Color analysis theories and applications vary quite a lot as you can see from the palettes - a bit like Tarot readings Wink But I still find them useful because I've struggled with colors draining me since I was 14. I lived in the US as a teenager and got to know Color Me Beautiful in 1989 (God I'm old). I've always rebelled against being a Summer. I'm no sweet pea, I'm a big hulking peony or Strelizia. I'm painted in thick oils not watercolors... But anyway, sticking to the Summer palette does solve the looking drained issue, and when I wear the most vibrant hues, I get a lot of positive feedback and feel very comfortable.

Hopefully YY to Camilla Skovgaard!

blossoming · 05/07/2012 21:32

Hi looby. Don't feel down! Really Envy you got such a bargain on the leggings. But a 26? Are you serious? After just a week?! Can you tell I'm amazed? Plenty of cardio - treadmill? And 6w6p. On that note I may start a new board called: things that have changed my life!

Decameron · 05/07/2012 21:33

I was pleased really, Dona, I am delighted she stands up for herself. Just trying not to be pfb about her! Didn't cry, Bloss but I am doubling my contribition to the end of year gifts for the teachers. :o

Great to see you posting again, Looby and glad your new baby is doing well. There is nothing nicer than fitting into your normal clothes!

Good luck with the job search, Mangawhai.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/07/2012 21:38

Looby if you're in 26 inch waist j brands after a week - seriously you have nothing to worry about. God I was in white co yoga pants for months Envy

Russianred · 05/07/2012 21:52

Love the floral/shorts mix Blue - could you go for a white/black top and then your floral blazer with the neon pumps?

Looby - 26 in a week is amazing! Tribe yourself another few weeks and then see where you are. 6w6p sounds good to me though.

Someone remind me where the bargainous 901s hailed from?

Well done to DD *. DS had a really lovely one too - he's a strong leader and enjoys both learning and teaching (read bossy too Wink). They also mentioned that other children seek him out to play with. And, every teacher parent's dream; he is a delight to have in the group. So proud. DH cried.

blue2711 · 05/07/2012 21:58

Lovely to hear from you looby. Sounds like you're doing great and your gorgeous little boy (with his fantastic name!). Try not to think about your tummy just yet because it will improve a lot over the next few weeks I'm sure. I was just as impatient though so I understand!

Hello to delurkers!

Great report decameron, you must feel so proud. I will be so nervous about reports a) in case DS does as badly at school as his father and b) because as a teacher I can see through all the cliches to the truth!

issimma I have two whistles blazers and one has worn terribly and one brilliantly.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 21:59

Dh cried. Made me laugh Red Grin

Looby that is good work, don't feel down about the tummy it stays there a bit naturally anyway then goes.

Pickled yes you're in trouble now Wink. Did she have an afternoon there? A few from my road are going, so I got good driving tips.

Manga love Vanessa Bruno, don't worry I still sit next to ds he is 2.5 and mn. Actually maybe that's not very encouraging!

Dona love the writing.

Decam and Red what lovely reports.

bretonbee · 05/07/2012 22:25

hello can't believe its already so late - my weekday evenings disappear in a flash.

My little 2.5 ds got a report too - so sweet. The bit that made me well up was about how confident he was and also that he was gentle, kind and considerate to the other children. Teachers have got nice L'Occitane presents for tomorrow.

Awesome dress purchase hopefully and a yes from me to the shoes too.

Would someone mind inviting me to pinterest if I pm them my email? I thought I had an invite somewhere but I can't find it or login and I really want to pin!!

looby glad you are enjoying your gorgeous newborn and take it easy, you will be back to your normal size in no time from the sound of it.

dona thanks for posting the colour swatches. I still want to get mine done properly but I think that has confirmed that I am a soft summer. ILs are over in a couple of weeks so I might try to book something up for then. Oh and love love that Marc Jacobs peplum top.

outfit sounds lovely manga - enjoy wimbledon. What are you wearing?

Wore navy davina today (bit bored of it though now) as was giving a talk to 100 interns. Left my jacket upstairs and microphone man was not impressed due to lack of anywhere to put the box bit so I had to leave on the table and not move much...probably looked ridiculous Hmm
