Avidly surveying the sales... but already starting Wisely to wonder about A/W Wish Lists.

New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Looks fabulous Dona!

Mmm that sounds yummy. Food in Italy is hard to beat. (actually French and Japanese is nice too Grin)

Emo 5050s are a good buy. Although I don't have any. I wonder if Wendy influenced those big sales.

blue2711 · 05/07/2012 11:32

I love the re-vamped mini Gracie dona! Any ideas on where I could get a nice chain that would work? mrscb I need to see your double loop thing as I can't make it work at all - and really really want to use the bag on my shopping trip tomorrow.

I think the 5050s could well be the W&A A/W version of the mini Gracie... I'm keen to try too although wonder whether they'll be too flat for me.

I want to go to ollie's brunch please.

Really looking forward to hearing more about hopefully's and SE's day. I'm thinking that now would be a good time to book a HoC day, before A/W purchasing really begins. I just keep worrying that I don't know how good my local consultant will be, or are they all generally excellent? Not sure about going on my own either but none of RL friends are up for it.

Going to tackle the mywardrobe Bloch issue today: I want justice!!

Right have just been into Matches and tried on the Isabel Marant Bekkets - I love them. They didn't have my size so am on the wait list. I now need to drum up the funds so NO SPENDING. Do you hear me? If I even mention spending money on anything but these, give me a virtual kick up the arse!

Thanks in advance...

Cake pop nightmare, ollie, glad it's over!

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 11:38

Emo do it! When I was about 18 I actually went to a hardware store to get some chain to tweak a purse. It was cheap as chips and looked really good (went all Coco Chanel at the time and pulled a velvet ribbon through it - nowadays I'd prefer it plain)! This is a chain from another handbag, one that is very quick to attach and detach with steel clip on hooks.

Shopping ban still on, although I really should buy new underwear and a comple of cami-shorts pajama sets. But get a kick out of resisting temptations.

As a consolation prize, the white Marc by Marc Jacobs peplum top I orderd all the way from Saks last month arrived - and I love it! (Would be an easy DIY project - take a great white T shirt, attach a ruffle of neoprene. Pronto!) Wearing it now with emerald green Zara cigarrette chinos and red Hasbeens, would add my red python Dior if I were going out.

Emerald green is one of my favorite colors (and one of my best colors to boot) so I think I will continue wearing them indefinitely. Colored denim/chinos haven't really caught on in Italy - only see them on middle aged men. I think the mentality here is different, people prefer to invest in lasting quality and ever-chic items, not quickly passing high street fads. (Zara is very popular though.)

MrsCB, how do you manage to keep your whites white around DC?

AmberNectarine · 05/07/2012 11:42

Workwear excepted obvs.

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 11:45

Get in Amber

If anyone sees a blazer exactly like this one let me know.

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 11:46

Amber I love the Bekkets.
But if you want to, you can join no-spend July! I'll boost your morale (and cross my fingers that they only arrive in August).

Blue a Dior vendeuse showed me the double loop thingy - I posted a picture starring my Lily.

Hopefully · 05/07/2012 12:08

Good handbag trick Dona

Enjoying an impromptu trip to Brighton with DH and the DSs. Hoping to squeeze in some shopping time while he takes them to the sea life centre later Smile

blue2711 · 05/07/2012 12:08

Thanks dona - got it! I can either have double strap on shoulder or single, very short cross body now - much better! Still going to keep an eye out for a great gold chain though. Absolutely love that peplum top and your outfit today. You are great with colour.

I'd love a really bright blazer too marsha but want winter weight jackets only from now on.

Have fun in Brighton hopefully.

I'm sure workwear spending will keep you entertained amber AND then you can reward yourself with the Marants Smile.

Right then. No spend July is on. We'll ignore the PJs I ordered on Tues as they were a necessity.

Brilliant, already 5 days in!

NotSoGrumpy · 05/07/2012 12:41

Marsha a couple of similar (but not identical) blazers here

Amber love the Bekkets, not sure if I should mention that the leopard current elliots are on sale at Donna Ida

I haven't been posting because I've been such a miserable grump! We're back in our house but the building work is ongoing plus DH has been away for the last 8 days which has been a bit tough. DD2 can't walk yet but has worked out how to climb - she managed to climb onto DD1's little armchair and then onto the sofa yesterday and then looked extremely pleased with herself! It's all a bit terrifying.

I'm loving all the pinterest boards, if I pm someone my email address could you send me an invite?

And huge congratulations to Looby, I'd love to know Baby Looby's name if someone could pm me.

Like Amber I'm going back to work soon so all the work clothes advice has been great. I really struggle with shoes for work as i have a dodgy left knee and can't wear anything too high. Dona I like the idea of dressing for the job you want not the one you have and shall be bearing that in mind.

My only recent purchases have been pyjamas in the Hush sale so useful but not exciting and I'm bored of the sales now.

AmberNectarine · 05/07/2012 13:04

NSG I am aware of the CEs, but they only have 24 & 26 and my fat backside needs a 27 really...

AmberNectarine · 05/07/2012 13:05

TS blazer is great, but mine has not washed well and I suspect it will only last me the season (but what does one expect from TS?)

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 13:14

Purse tweakers, a good source for chain here! My Dior chain is 120 cm and perfect length for the Mini Gracie. I actually use silver-plated chain. Don't like gold accessories, and silver looks surprisingly good on Gracie...

Amber gotcha! (maybe I'll also allow an emergency underwear and pajamas investment in no-buy July.)

One of the lovely things about Pinterest is that you can indulge in fantasy shopping and not spend a penny

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 13:20

Even better detachable Mini Gracie chains here, 120 cm is 47 in (will definitely stop now).

blossoming · 05/07/2012 13:29

Hi it'snotunusual, no time no hear! I'm following you back now. Love the 'avidly lurking' line.
Hi to manga too.
I am so addicted to pinterest now. Your work boards are gorgeous annie.
I don't mind at all if people follow me, I'm just curious to know more about people that's all! And nosy to know their MN name!
My week's work is culminating this afternoon, when my students will be taking what they learnt in my intensive week long course and teaching Yr 6 pupils. So far they have stepped up to the challenge and have created incredible resources (which I will persuade them to save onto my work computer!), so looking forward to seeing them perform.
Get your arse off the sofa bloss

VerityBrulee · 05/07/2012 13:32

I did the chain thing a few years ago with my Anya Lautner. If you look up mens jewellery on ebay, you'll find some eye popping chains Grin i bought 2 and joined them together. It's long enough for cross body or can be double up a la Chanel to wear on your shoulder.

I love the cobalt Becketts, very MK!

Decameron · 05/07/2012 13:47

Hope My-W sort it out, Blue. I am surprised they haven't been more helpful.

A mum at DD1's school was wearing those this morning, Amber, very cool.

That blouse is lovely, Dona. Tempting but cannot raid my boots fund (halfway there thanks to DH having no time to buy an anniversary present).

I'm not really a Wendy fan but I like how the 50/50s look on Bloss and Red. Also here on the Goopster. You can get a wedge boot version, Blue.

Hope your house is finished soon, NSG.

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 14:03

Thanks Decam. Peplum tops are a really easy DIY project - no need to raid the fund.

Apropos DIY, Verity, are you pinning / on Etsy / somewhere? I'd love to see some of your projects, very inspiring! I used to make almost all of my clothes when I went to high school (even had "dressmaking" as a school subject for one hour each afternoon for a full school year!!!) and during my early uni days (pre Zara and pre H&M) but am too busy pinning procrastinating avoiding work these days. Still admire people who do though!

MarshaBrady · 05/07/2012 14:05

Thanks NSG! in the car will check out properly later.

Good pic Decam I cannot do 5050s but like them on others.

I just took ds1 to his new school oh god my oh my stirs the emotions. He's sad to be leaving his old lovely little place.

Decameron · 05/07/2012 14:06

I can just about sew on a button, anything else is beyond me!

CaroleService · 05/07/2012 14:07

Have succumbed to Gracie

Hopefully · 05/07/2012 14:12

Speaking of DIY, I have just bought yards and yards of the most beautiful Prada fabric for £60 - enough royal purple for a jacket, and an old gold colour for a skirt and/or trousers and/or jacket. There is no appropriate workwear to be had, so I am back to plan A: make it.

DonaAna · 05/07/2012 15:17

Loving all Pinterest activity! Another lost work day - people coming in and out all day, barging in and interrupting all the time. Sometimes I really hate working from home.

If you believe in color analysis and know your season and would like to pin your palette to use it as a reference for online purchases, I've got something for you: Summers; Autumns; Winters; Springs.
Scroll down, pick one of the palettes that, pin it (or store it on your phone) and use it! Grin

I've used my palette for a year now and the result is a surprisingly coordinated wardrobe Shock.
