New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Am looking at my Pinterest and am aghast at the sea of blue and grey. I definitely need more red in my life, but need something for everyday as well as occasion. Can I wear a bright red dress to work?

OllieinOrange · 02/07/2012 14:54

Am nodding head in agreement with driving talk. Used to drive everywhere in the UK then moved here and got freaked out by having to look out for trams, cyclists and cars. Relied on public transport for 18 months and then made myself drive after suffereing a big twinge lifting DS1's buggy onto tram when 5 months pregnant with DS2 - was fine after a week. Like Red says, stick to well known routes at first, and yes Decameron a sat nat is a must (unless it sends you up a tram only line....).

Brought some nice nude ballet pumps from New Look today - good shade on my feet and only 10euros.
Ive also got around to ordering the J Crew colourblock dress and the A Wang draped jersey dress.

Can cross off two Cos dresses from my Pinterest - the grey wrap one was far too shapeless. I really liked this one front drape dress but the bottom half was stretchy elastic material - would be fine for a work dress but not for my current lifestyle.
Not on website but there was a fab cream and navy stripe jumper with red 2/3 cuffs. Lovely thick cotton/wool mix so good for A/W. Thought it would be good for Suburban, Amber and Red?
Cos are also doing my tan leather bag in black for the Autumn.

DonaAna · 02/07/2012 15:30

RR, I wear bright red to work all the time. (Have not had time to pin my old red items. Also keep a lot of them in our other apartment where my job is and where all the crucial meetings take place.) Red is my best interview / talk etc. color. Seriously, it has increased my salary. Go ask my boss ;) So, definitely recommend.

blossoming · 02/07/2012 16:37

Urgh, I have the worst cold: eyes streaming, pounding headache, the works. And off timetable teaching wall to wall sixth form. Not sure how I'll cope with the next few days.
Wore my Kim Kardashian inspired outfit today, so black 901s, grey tee (might work for you verity, I really like it, have it in blue also, white too sheer), and zara blazer. First photo here but with ballet flats, pewter and black.

alwaysrunninginheels · 02/07/2012 16:40

Hello again....on the subject of red. Can someone please tell me if the TS Leigh jeans measure upto the j brand 811s......am trying to persuade myself that I should economise and buy red Leigh's rather than j brands. But HATE it when a few weeks in jeans give too much and don't fit- hence stick v much to the jeans I know!

ApuskiMcClusky · 02/07/2012 17:23

MiM, I have the big pull out drawers like that from Ikea, they have been great, and feel robust - though I don't know about the shelving you can put on top of them. Although they're big, ds2 can pull them out and dig out the toys he wants (he's almost 2) so very manoeuvrable.

blue2711 · 02/07/2012 18:47

Who is EN on Pinterest?! I love your wardrobe!

OP posts:
blue2711 · 02/07/2012 18:49

TS Leigh smaller than 811s by one size I find. And a very different fit. Leighs much more legging like and clingy at the calf and ankle which 811s aren't. Leighs very thin material. I think TS Jamies are closer to 811s.

mim I have a couple of bits of the northcote gltc storage - the small unit on the right of that picture. I really like it and they are always having 20% discounts, sometimes more so worth waiting for a code.

pickledsiblings · 02/07/2012 19:56

Yes Blue, I agree that Jamies are the closest.

Emo76 · 02/07/2012 20:03

great to see you apuski hope all is going OK particularly finding a new nanny.

mim what a mean bus driver, worthy of a name and shame in the local press! However, yay to you and amber learning to drive - you guys CAN do it. I am a weekend driver only in London but I love the freedom a car gives me/us. I never worry about getting lost, carry an A-Z (or satnav!) - London traffic can be busy but nobody gets lost forever and the congestion gives you time to work out the next move. Well that's my thinking! And you can sing along to the radio.

blue ooooh I like those Evoques, they are a nice shape.

I am getting tempted to pininterest. hmmmm.

Am playing "corporate wife" tomorrow evening at the Hampton Court Flower show as DH is entertaining a client. I hope the weather improves, want to wear a summer dress.

Emo76 · 02/07/2012 20:03

ps hello breton - how are things?

AmberNectarine · 02/07/2012 20:35

I will be so glad when I can drive. The hour long 2-bus commute to my parents' house will become a 15min drive. No longer will I be at the mercy of mercurial bus drivers who make up the rules!

Decameron · 02/07/2012 20:39

Good luck tomorrow, Amber.

Who is EM on pinterest?

You can definitely wear red, Red!

Get well soon, Bloss. I like the sound of that outfit.

AlwaysRunning, go for the 811s. :)

MiM, was also going to say that GLTC often have good discounts.

I am heading to the R&B sale tomorrow morning with my neighbour, who is a woman after my own heart. I'm going to try the 50/50s.

rufus101 · 02/07/2012 20:55

Hope the 50/50s look good Decam!
I am supposed to be packing, but keep getting distracted. DS2 is running a temp since yesterday. I am praying that it isn't the bloody pox.
He rallies so well with calpol, and then once it wears off, he just slumps and wants to sleep. Eating and drinking fine though.
Fingers crossed he will have a miracle cure overnight!
Nasty bus driver MIM hate when they make up rules like that, just because they can. Power trip.
Good luck Amber. You won't know yourself, when you are independently mobile.
Fabuous outfit as awlays Bloss.

Hopefully · 02/07/2012 20:57

Evening!

Amber and MIM yay for driving! It really is such a useful thing to be able to do, even if you only use it occasionally.

Always I love my TS jeans (I have baxters, I think), but the 811s are much better quality. I have blood orange and the colour has lasted really well, despite being worn practically every other day since January (I only had two pairs of jeans for 5.5 of the six months...). And the fit is brilliant. And the cut. They're basically fab.

*Bloss8 look after yourself, hope you feel better tomorrow.

Argh, have been trying on outfits for HoC setup on Wed. I officially have no clothes. it is ridiculous. My capsule wardrobe is at the extreme end of the spectrum now. I find it incredibly hard to find clothes in my colours and style - so many clothes in autumn colours are hippy-style, really relaxed and drapey. I reckon one decent blazer would improve my life a lot, maybe a couple of plain tops. Interestingly, there is a lot more stuff in my style in higher end brands (and I'm not just saying that!) because relaxed-but-tailored suits me, and very few cheaper shops seem to bother with proper tailoring, iykwim. Sigh.

Hopefully · 02/07/2012 21:02

Not blazers, but I like this dress, this sweater and the look of this three piece (as in, I would like to recreate this look for less than £2k)

blossoming · 02/07/2012 21:04

My post just got swallowed up...
Was telling blue, that would be fleecy
Also wanted to know who CG; HC; AT; EM are.
rufus, get pinning! I cannot wait to see your boards!
I am with you in spirit tomorrow decam

MarshaBrady · 02/07/2012 21:19

Love the orange Stella McCartney Hopefully.

Decameron · 02/07/2012 21:24

Hope your Ds is ok by tomorrow, Rufus.

I think CG is AlwaysRunning?

Gorgeous clothes, Hopefully.

I am exhausted, can't wait up for the Hush sale. What's with this rain?

Emo76 · 02/07/2012 21:26

EM is not me!

Decameron · 02/07/2012 21:26

MiM, I should have put this on Pinterest but we have these large Lego blocks for toys, your DS might like them.

DonaAna · 02/07/2012 21:28

Hopefully better save up for the higher end even if it means adding to your wardrobe slowly. The difference in quality is remarkable.

Good luck Amber!

Love everybody's pinboards.

I just returned 2 pairs of Topshop jeans. Wrong fit and they made me feel old - probably because of their high lycra content. Lycra is pretty merciless once you reach a certain age... But I'm perversely in love with my green fire-hazard Zara dress.

OllieinOrange · 02/07/2012 21:29

Hope you are feeling better Bloss Im suffering from a cold like thing too - settled on my chest so have hacking cough. I was wonderng about a couple of followers on Pinterest too.

Decameron I have a good feeling about your R&B trip tomorrow. Smile

DonaAna · 02/07/2012 21:44

Hopefully, take a look at the Hobbs NW3 new arrivals. Your style is much chicer and edgier (love the colors of the items you chose), but you might find something to tide you over.

I'm a fellow tailoring freak and I shop a lot at Matches, Outnet and department store sales. Zara is not tailored enough for me. Small indie labels and boutiques are also good sometimes.
