I need help de-frumping please!

I have a very important conference/festival this weekend with loads of big wigs, but not corporate types, uber-cool types. There'll be lots of former colleagues there (who are all glamorous & childless) and I am still wearing clothes I bought before my 4 year old was born!

I know it doesn't really matter but I think I'd feel a bit more confident (and be able to enjoy it more) if I felt a bit less frumpy. It's an outdoors glasto kind of vibe & in Copenhagen so won't be warm.

Anyone got any ideas for what to wear? It'll have to be skinnies & wellies on the bottom half but I need some tops/ jackets/ cardies etc and probably a waterproof of some kind...

I've looked on Cos & French Connection so far but they're both a bit pricey- total budget is about £100 for a couple of tops or dresses and a jacket. And I'm a size 14 and like to be covered from the neck to the knees :o

It's such a long time since I shopped for clothes (aside from buying the odd bit from the supermarket) that I have no idea where to begin! Any pointers would be brilliant.

What absolutely brilliant suggestions! Thank you. Hadn't considered White Co but looks nice & simple & well made. I've ordered the orange parka!

Oh that's great - so glad you liked them! :) I thought the parkas were unbelievable bargains!

MrsSeanBean · 26/06/2012 22:49

In fact I think I'm also going to order one - they surely won't hang around at that price!
