Alternatives to seche vite?

I bought some seche vite and was really looking forward to trying it but now it's arrived I've been scared off by the warning about causing birth defects. Does anyone know of another good top coat? I want shiny, hardwearing nails, and quick drying would be nice although the finish is more important.

Nails Inc Caviar top coat is fab and quick drying. I also found one called 'Save The Nail' in the nailcare section in Boots and it is excellent (I think it may be made by Nails Inc) link here

I don't know if they contain the ingredient you are avoiding - best to check instore?

there is a sally hansen one that's good too. Also at boots

Hefner - this blog has review and gives ingredients you need to avoid.

Are you pg then? I'm not so I use mine.

I think the warning is for the US market, if it was that leathal you wouldnt be able to buy it, unlike fags and booze.

hefner · 24/06/2012 20:37

Thanks, I'll have a look at those. I'm not pg but I am still BF so I'm a bit paranoid about nasty chemicals getting though to DD.

You cant cause birth defects after birth.

hefner · 24/06/2012 23:11

Yes I know, but I wondered whether it could stay in her system and affect her pregnancies in future. I realise I'm being totally over cautious and I know they wouldn't sell it if it was dangerous, but I'd rather use something like the top coat MooMinCow linked to, which doesn't have that ingredient in.

Wasn't it just an ingredient used in the US formulation? I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that whatever it is, isn't in the EU-approved Seche Vite.

hefner · 25/06/2012 07:01

That's what I thought too wildfig, but my bottle has the warning on. Maybe it's an American one, I bought it off Amazon.
