Help needed with dresses..

I am nearly 40 & still don't seem to understand what does and doesn't suit me. I am ok with jeans etc, but when it comes to going out, I am finding that I am making excuses not to go, rather than having to get dressed up Sad

So,I need some advice. I am tall ish 5ft 8, with long arms & legs. I have hips and boobs, but not much of a waist & a flat stomach, pear ish with big boobs ( if that makes sense) I wear a 12 or a 14 depending on the shop.

I like this although not for going out.

I have a dress from coast like this but with a v neck, that does suit me.

I just feel ridiculous getting dressed up, and don't know how to get out of this.

Did you go shopping today? Any luck? I found a dress in White Stuff today in the sale (can't link as it's not on the website) i'm very pleased with it, teal blue with an abstract floral pattern, good everyday dress for the summer (assuming we get one!)

Also placed an order for another pair of levi demi curve jeans, last year i went and got properly fitted in store, had previously been buying size 14 jeans with a 32 leg, they kept falling down Blush Lovely lady in Levi's measured me and had me try on lots of different cuts until we found the perfect pair - demi curve slim leg 30 waist 34 leg. They fit brilliantly and are currently in the sale too, have now invested in one in every colour in case they stop doing them!

Yes I did...I got the same white stuff dress!

The smarter dress buying was as much of a disaster as I expected it to be. Went with lots of ideas, but couldn't find much. Struggled to even to find things to try on.

Ended up with this

Which is ok, but got the 14 not the 12 so it looks a little baggy. Think the 12 was just that little bit too small.

Will look into those Levi's

How funny that we bought the same one!

My experience of buying something because it's the only thing I could find is that it either a) doesn't make you feel great when you're wearing it or b) doesn't get worn at all.

So I am going to continue on the hunt for a good evening dress for you Smile
