Thin, chiffon type scarves that don't make me look like my mother?

Hi. I was hoping to get a few scarves to brighten up some of my fairly dowdy and uninspiring outfits. However I'm short with huge norks, so large scarve look awful. I can't seem to find any smaller, drapey scarves that don't look old lady. Any ideas? Particularly in shades of blue or dark reds. Thanks

H&M had some a couple of months back but don't know if they still wil now it's 'summer'.
