DIY tinted moisturiser?

winedripplease · 20/06/2012 22:50

I have very few pennies to rub together, hence asking this question - but has anybody successfully concocted a decent DIY tinted moisturiser? The cheaper ones don't work with my skin, usually too dark, and can't justify anthing pricey. Have been eyeing up big pots of cheap facial moisturiser and wondering about squirting in some of my redundant foundation that will otherwise be chucked. Has this ever occurred to anyone else???

yes I do it everyday but mix it on the back of your hand rather than mixing in a pot

I mix my foundation with my Mac SPF 50 primer

I do the same as cybbo - primer, mouisteriser & foundation mixed on back of hand. It works well and means I can use different mousiterisers depending on how dry my skin is & if I need SPF or not.

ah ok - maybe I am just being lazy and time deficient - but I can only seem to manage slapping one thing on my face/neck of a morning, with no faffing, so was trying to plan for a cheap and easy fix....but there is no obvious reason why I couldn't just make a batch of DIY? using favouite (cheapish) moisturiser and ok foundation? I just can't see the point in spending over the odds for someone else to whizz it up

it may well go manky in the pot. Mix up what you need on your hand, takes seconds. you can adjust the coverage then

best thing is mix your cream with mineral make up (powder) - that is, essentially, what foundation/tinted moisturiser is

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 21/06/2012 00:09

Yup, I use matt factor 30 sun cream and foundation mixed in back of hand.

ok ok back of hand seems the way to go for now, although in the mornings at the moment, even 3 secs are rare - thanks anyway ladies - might do a test-pot of DIY and see how mank it gets, love experimenting! will keep you posted...

I am sure this is not top of the S & B news-stream, but for anybody who is interested, I carried out my plan of mixing regular foundation into a big pot of cheap moisturiser, and it is great! Hasn't gone manky (yet!), I get enough coverage, but a very 'dewy' natural look. That's it for me - DIY all the way. Anyone trying to save pennies - give it a go!
