Not exactly S&B but thought someone might be able to help....... I bought a dress 6 weeks ago from Debehams. Was a bit tight but was losing weight so thought it would be fine for wedding last weekend. Tried it on before wedding and it was too big and unwearable.

I know i'm too late to get a cash refund as it's over 28 days. I am happy with gift card for same amount. Dress was £75 in 25% off event. Am I better returning it with receipt and risk being told i'Ve left it too late or saying no recepit and getting amount on tag or whatever it may have been reduced to since?

Anyone??

Can you see if it's been reduced online?

Shakey1500 · 20/06/2012 22:58

Bear in mind they're under no obligation to take the dress back with or without receipt.

Personally I'd take it back with the receipt. :)

Ah good idea. for some reason petit version reduced but the normal one is still full price.

Yeah I feel a bit guilty returning it after 6 weeks but it's a lot to waste so wanted to get something back. Will try tomorrow with receipt. :)

I doubt they will give you your money back to be honest with the receipt or even an exchange.

trixymalixy · 20/06/2012 23:19

I took some stuff back really late with a receipt, they let me exchange as a goodwill gesture.

ceeveebee · 20/06/2012 23:25

I would play dumb and say I can't find receipt. If they won't exchange/gift card then have a good root through your bag and find it.

Ps how have you managed to lose more than one dress size in 6 weeks?

bigpants103 · 21/06/2012 14:17

CVB it was verging on the big side when I bought it but thought I wouldn't lose more weight. Lost 11lb though doing Weight Watchers and too big now.

I returned it this morning without the receipt and I got an exchange for the value of the dress before the 25% was taken off which is more than what I was wanting. Really chuffed.

Knew I couldn't get the cash back but thought I'd just have wasted £75 which was annoying!!
