Desperate need of evening guest dress for wedding

I have an evening reception coming up in two weeks (just looked at calendar and had a mild panic as I thought it was in a month) and nothing to wear.

Could wear linen trousers and a top but I want to wear a dress because I think it looks nicer. Have tried all the usual high street shops in my area (which isn't much tbh) and have trawled through numeorus online shops and come up with zilch. Lost weight when pregnant, piled it on after pregnancy and now a size 18 just started slimming world. I reckon I'll be down to a 16 by the time the wedding comes around as I still fit into most of my 16 clothes but I won't count on it!!!

I can't find anything at all, I want something below knee length really so prefrebly a maxi dress. Saw a nice Per Una one but made me feel about 57 rather than 27. Anyone seen any lovely dresses which might be suitable/in stock/don't cost the earth as I'm skint and need to buy before payday so using savings!

This?

This? though it's a bit pricey, even in the sale.

Sadly out of my budget I think, all a case of bad timing, DH's bday in a few weeks and my sister and DD is going to need new clothes soon so I'm probably looking for something no more than £50 I think.

I've just found this but I'm not sure what the fabric is like. I think size wise it will be ok if it's soft jersey fabric and it does say it's jersey BUT when you zoom in on the picture it looks like it's quite hard and has no give/flexibility so I'm not sure..?

Go to House of Fraser
Choose Sale>Dresses>size16
Sort by price low to high & there are over 400 dresses under £50

What sort of colours/lengths do you want?

THANK YOU MNers!!! I don't have a HoF near me and so totally forgot about it. I really like the one you suggested UML. I have narrowed it down to these choices, are any of these horrific? I have lost all fashion sense since DD came along, or perhaps the time to think about it!

  1. worried it might be a bit too low cut

  2. or this one

  3. or this one

2 is the best.

I was just about to buy a dress when DH called for me to help put DD to bed as she wouldn't go down for him. An hour later I've come back down and my dress is now out of stock Sad. I could cry.

Anyway is [http://www.marksandspencer.com/Bead-Embellished-Racer-Back-Dress/dp/B003E7WSTC?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_106&nodeId=527058031&sr=1-106&qid=1340395416 this] suitable for a wedding? It's black, is black ever suitable for a wedding? I have a pair of silver encrusted shoes and a silver encrusted bag which would brighten it up a bit....

Thoughts please.

I think that dress would be fine as you are going to the evening reception and not the wedding.
