Tips on what to bring back from USA?

Hi, my dp & dd are off to Chicago soon, and I'm wondering what to tell them to bring me back. Theres no point in saying jeans because of weight restrictions on luggage, so I'm thinking cosmetics, perfume etc. Has anyone any recommendations for stuff thats cheaper in USA, or that can only be got there?
(If I don't tell them what to bring back, my dp will pick out something fugly, like a huge multicoloured butterfly brooch). (Had to wear that for about 3 months until I "lost" it).
Thanks.

MAC and OPI cheaper there. Find the colours you like here and send them with a list.

Peanut butter M&Ms and almond M&Ms (ok not S&B, but still, not to be missed!).

lizzywig · 20/06/2012 07:30

I second the MAC it's much cheaper, also Abercrombie perfume.

carrie74 · 20/06/2012 07:32

Oh and Secret deodorant. And Carmex lip balm.

MrsKitty · 20/06/2012 08:00

Also not S&B, but my brother brought me over some chocolate coated Chex Mix last month, and it was delicious!

Chicago outlets are quite good. I got a gorgeous Coach bag and purse for about 1/2 of the OUTLET prices here.

DH and I took 3 suitcases EACH and stuffed them full Grin Lots of food things, too - M&Ms, twizzlers, jelly beans, soft tacos, mexican sauces, chillis, pop tarts, etc. I got attachments for my kitchenaid at half the UK price. Clothes. Carmex. And bottles of ibuprofen. You can get bottles with 500 or so for a few dollars - so much better than stupid 2 pack UK limits. They last for AGES!

ChopstheDuck · 20/06/2012 08:15

sunglasses are cheap too, I got some ray bans from costco there, for about $40

Itsgottabebags · 20/06/2012 08:36

Why Carmex? You can buy it here cheaply?

OP think there was nother thread on chat a while back for suggestions.

Aren't Clinique the same price in dollars as they are in pounds here? If so maybe. Have a trip to a Clinique counter, see what you like and get them to buy over in the USA

dottyaboutstripes · 20/06/2012 09:24

I went to a Clinique counter which had a gift with purchase, only it was spending over a threshold rather than buying 2 items, so I had to only spend $23 to get a bag of goodies, I bought my dd some blusher, so she was really delighted with her haul!
DH travels to the US a lot and often brings back huge packs of ibuprofen which is really cheap. Pretzel M&Ms are my personal fave treat along with Laffy Taffy :o

dottyaboutstripes · 20/06/2012 09:26

Oh and in a Nordstrom Rack, I got an Urban Decay palette really, really cheap (can't remember exactly how much) and they had Tweezermans for about £3

memphis83 · 20/06/2012 09:32

Burts Bees lip balms and lotions are fab and really cheap there!

TheNightWatch · 20/06/2012 09:35

Ive never found Mac to be much cheaper there. Ugg boots dont weight alot, if you like them. Teeth whitening kits. Clinique is nearly half the price. Victorias Secret five pairs of knickers for $35 and, lots of sweeties like Lifesavers.

ChopstheDuck · 21/06/2012 20:03

The tubes are quite new here. America has a lot more flavours.

ChopstheDuck · 21/06/2012 20:03

That was about Carmex btw!

TheNightWatch · 24/06/2012 11:34

How much cheaper is it though? Its less than £2 in Superdrug. Ive never tried it. Might have to.

eurochick · 24/06/2012 11:39

I love Kiehls products and they are much, much cheaper there.

And every trip to the US has to involve Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It's obligatory.

anniewoo · 24/06/2012 12:51

Michael Kors bags are so much cheaper in U.S.
Peanut butter Lindt balls
Sephora make up shop in Chicago too
