another hair dye question (sorry!)

Ok so I messed up my hair this weekend.. was light brown with highlights that had gone too light/brassy in the sun so put over a light brown semi permanent that has turned it VERY dark brown:(

I was going to try colourb4 but read reviews and suspect because I have so much old dye, it would be risky and I'd end up day glow orange, so ditched that idea.

Today I have scrubbed my poor hair with head and shoulders and it has lifted a little bit but still very dark. I'm thinking a trip to the hairdressers is in order and I shall have to find a new one as I'm too embarrassed to go to my regular and admit what I have done (also I cut my fringe back in.. bad mistake!!)

I'm thinking maybe I could have some caramel highlights or similar,,just a few to break up the dark.. and then in a few weeks get a restyle (currently longish, but a bit mulletish due to my home attempt at trimming!)

Could some sort of highlights be put over my semi? Or would it leave me with bright roots and still dark ends? I am very dim when it comes to colour!

One day I will learn to leave well alone Grin

I did this a while back and got a special clarifying shampoo that gently stripped the colour. Wash and condition it lots and it will fade down.
