Botox - why didn't I do it before?! And how long does yours last?

Been wingeing about my No11s for aaaages, so had botox 2 weeks ago and the difference is REMARKABLE. The 11s are almost completely gone Shock So little faff for so much result.

So I want this to continue, how frequently do you all have it done?

see noddeds mine has lifted my upper lid too but also increased myFiona Bruce factor which I don't want to increase any more!

I'm just so relieved to get rid of huge line betwixt brows

cybbo · 20/06/2012 08:17

Dilys we all did our own peels at home, regular as clockwork

noddyholder · 20/06/2012 08:19

Mine not that much but strange it's been permanent.

DilysPrice · 20/06/2012 08:23

I really want a peel but can't bring myself to DIY, (at least not the first time). I want someone who really knows what they're doing to strip layers off my skin with acid

catinboots · 20/06/2012 08:48

cyb - I have the tatooed eyebrows like Season too.. The little teeny individual hairstroke ones. I love them - they look vair natural. Not like Colleen Rooney.

Makes me wake up looking groomed. I had mine done in West London

Nancy66 · 20/06/2012 08:56

I go to Dr Tracy Mountford - would def recommend her.

NoWayNoHow · 20/06/2012 09:00

This is a very encouraging thread! I've been toying with the idea of Botox for a while, but we're really only in a position now, financially, to be able to affordsomething like this. I too have the dreaded 11's, but my main problem are the 3 crevices from raising my eyebrows ALL THE TIME. I'm only 34, but would like to look slightly more "fresh".

Can you all genuinely tell me that you can get it done to a level where you can still move your eyebrows, be expressive, when you have it? Because I really do talk with my face, and I would be worried if I had it that it would be extremely noticeable due to less movement.

cybbo I'm a mile away from Kingston - would you mind PM'ing me the details of the Medi Spa there so I can investigate?

noddyholder · 20/06/2012 09:36

I can completely move my brows. My lines were only done because of constant raising brows due to non wearing glasses. I have no other lines at all. I went with a friend initially as a support and the consultant said although she was very lined because it was sun damage it was a waste of money I took my chance to ask about my 3 frown lines and he said I was ideal candidate. I have still the vague trace of where the lines were but no frozen waxy look at all.

Mikyahrose · 20/06/2012 09:53

Haha Goody i was just thinking the samething.

Do you think its the down lines at the top of your nose between your eyes?

Nancy66 · 20/06/2012 09:53

if you have the tattooed brows are they worked in with your existing ones?

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/06/2012 14:10

Agreen the more you have it the longer it lasts - I can now go 6 months before DH says I look tired Hmm

Cybbo - so excited you've had it.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/06/2012 14:12

sorry cybbo real life interfered with service there!

they're like cat said: all clever individual hair strokes. I paid £125 (half price of a 'full brow' as mine was kind of just filling the gaps, iykwim?), they'll last up to 3 years tho will start to fade from 18m - 2y depending on how i look after them (protect them from sun, aha etc). do it do it do it!

Just brilliant to look kinda groomed even without make-up!

i'll upload a pic of them in a tick (you know how i love an 'after' photo) altho i don't have a great detailed close-up at the mo.

dilys the home peeling honestly isn't scary! it's bloody magic, that's what it is!

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/06/2012 14:13

nancy yes!

cybbo · 20/06/2012 17:29

Season thanks for posting the picks...the shape is great of your brows but even though I am brunette they would look too dark on me...can one choose ones shade?

catinboots · 20/06/2012 17:36

Yep - they have a whole range of colours.

I'm blonde so I have mid-brown brows done.

They always look much darker for the first two weeks while they heal.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 20/06/2012 19:04

yy, my brows are naturally weirdly v dark - almost black even tho my hair is reddy mid-brown so mine had to be this dark to match my actual hair, if you look at the close-up pic, you'll see the colour of the real and fake hair is identical. tho like cat says they'll fade a bit.

they should do a bespoke colour mix for you - both lightness/darkness, colour and warm/cool.

coconutty not wanting to hijack this thread any more than i've already managed to, have a look here - a whole thread dedicated to home sizzle madness: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1456596-Sizzlers-Anonymous-Aciiiiiiiiiiid

Charliefox · 20/06/2012 20:41

For the couple of you who asked, 11s are the 2 vertical lines that develop between your brows. I've been having mine since I was about 36. Is very subtle and I can defo still move my face. I've been to SK:N in Manchester and seen most of the docs and they've all been good. Now go to the Transform clinic in Bowden. Do it! You barely feel it and it's transformational. I have it done twice a year and it does indeed last longer the more you have it.

jeanvaljean · 20/06/2012 21:33

What are the prices like at Tracy Mountford's Harley Street clinic? I assume they're pricier than chains like Sk:n or Medi Spa. For a terrified first timer are the chains trustworthy? Would it be totally foolish to have it done by a practitioner who hasn't been directly recommended to you?

Charliefox · 20/06/2012 21:56

Don't be terrified. Easy to say, I know but I was scared and you seriously have nothing to be terrified about. It honestly doesn't hurt (I am truly the simplest person ever), just a tiny tiny pinprick. Less is more at first, so make sure you tell them. I've used skn on several occasions and never had a bad experience.

Charliefox · 20/06/2012 21:58

Simplest? Well, yeah, maybe but I did actually mean to say wimpiest!

cybbo · 20/06/2012 22:28

The thing is, if you hate. It, it won't last forever. You barely feel it, it's just a scratch. Or 15

dearprudence · 20/06/2012 22:48

I'm bloody doing it. I am I am I am I am!

I'm really anxious about the idea of having a frozen forehead - not so much how it looks, but that I'll start to panic if I can't move it. But I really want it done.

cybbo · 20/06/2012 22:55

Dearprudence, mine felt weird for about 5 days afterwards. It felt heavy like I had somwpething wrapped around it. but then this feeling went and it was fine.I can still raise my eyebrows , not as much, but lines are gone
