La redoute sizing is way off

I ordered two pairs of cropped trousers from la redoute in my usual size 12 only to find they are extremely small, they were more like an 8-10 size, do all their clothes come up small like this?

Ime their clothes are true to size it's just we are used to vanity sizing nowerdays so might think we are a 12 or 14 but are actually 14 to 16.

whackamole · 17/06/2012 16:24

I ordered 4 dresses and a top the other week, there is no way I am a 14 more like a 16-18 :( but they all fit and are actually a bit large.

BedHeadTigi · 17/06/2012 16:25

No way am i near a 16, maybe a 12-14, its ridiculous tho that the sizing in shops can vary so greatly. I really want to order some skinny jeans from there but now im not sure if i want to as i dont know what size to pick.

Sorry I ordered them in a 14, so all bigger than I thought.

I went from the reviews btw otherwise would have all been too large.

I have my measurements written down and always go by sizing guides from online retailers. Makes it much more likely to fit when I'm anything from a 6-10 depending on store!

BedHeadTigi · 17/06/2012 16:35

I may just order the skinny jeans but in several sizes and just return what does not fit, i really need some new pairs.

There sizes are correct - you are not really a size 12 but more like a size 16 Sad It is the UK shops that have altered their clothing and strayed wildly from what the correct sizes used to be back in the 1970's..

I went to buy jeans recently and took in two pairs with 32 inch waist - they fell down Shock The shop assistant said it was due to the style I asked for a tape measure and the waist was 37 inches on one and 38 inches on the other pair. I then took the tape and tried to find a 32 waist pair of jeans but none were so I left.

an inch is an inch regardless of the style and it is just a waste of time

So in the UK im a size 12, and when i go to france im a size 16 Smile

They are French so they go by the book (they are a massive company with clout).

I've all ways put the wild sizes of shops down to the fact they get the stuff from the cheapest factories in the far east etc they can find and they make things to what they think western sizes are rather then what they really are.

I would like to buy from La Redoute I used to when mum had an account but she jacked that in when they changed to a different finance management, she had nothing but trouble with them cashing cheques and then saying they hadn't got them and not applying discount codes.

goodygumdrops · 17/06/2012 17:26

Really? You asked for a tape measure and went around measuring the jeans? You didn't just hold them up and make an educated guess if they looked about right for you?

You're a nutter.

Bienchen · 17/06/2012 17:33

It is a French brand and sizes accordingly, no vanity sizing as per many UK brands. Measurements are on the website or in the catalogue, so you can find your correct size.

TheGalliantLadyDidymus · 17/06/2012 18:48

I had the opposite. Ordered 5 dresses in my usual size 12 and they Hung off me. Could've got another person in there with me.

CuttedUpPear · 17/06/2012 22:41

LaRedoute's clothes quality is absolutely awful IME.

It took several years of buying what I thought looked good in the catalogue before I learned my lesson. Their clothes are constructed cheaply with substandard fabrics.

I'm not a posh shopper but even I have standards. I'd rather shop at Primark and be able to see what I'm getting.

In the end I got fed up with their relentless marketing and asked them to remove me from all their databases.

Sorry...rant over Grin

goodygumdrops Hardly a nutter - I had already tried four pairs of trousers on that didn't fit - so why waste time trying on when you can just measure as the labels are incorrect - perhaps you like changing room - I prefer the coffee shop
