Can I wear a black dress to an evening do of a wedding?

I'm not sure of the etiquette - I wouldn't wear black to an all day wedding but as I'm just going for the evening party does that mean I can wear a black dress?

I'm going in just over an hour and it's the only dress that seems suitable and looks okay but just wanted to check with S&B before I commit a sin!
