Help me cobble together a wedding outfit?

We've received a surprise wedding invitation , which is lovely, but there is absolutely no question of me having something new to wear, so I need to decide what's most suitable from what I already have. We won't be senior guests at all, so I can't imagine anyone will be too interested in what I'm wearing, but I'd like to look OK.

The most weddingy thing I own is a black and cream bias cut silk dress, but it's very old and been worn a lot. Everyone one who knows me at the wedding will have seen it lots of times before.

I have a dusty blue jersey dress which is quite nice, gathered bodice and puffy sleeves and I have the same one in shocking pink. Actually quite different dresses because of the marked difference in colour/tone.

Or there's a really good black dress Hmm

For shoes, the only heels I have that I could manage to wear all day are a dark cream/nude colour, or I have some black wedges, beige nubuck boots or black suede boots, but the wedding's in August.

I need a new everyday handbag, so I'm hoping I might be able to get something for the wedding which would be functional afterwards. What colour/style? Otherwise I have a small pewter coloured clutch, or black.

What would you pick?

I'd go for shocking pink jersey dress with black wedges, black pashmina, black bag and black hat if you are a hat person Smile

Thank you - I'm sure it's going to be a beautiful day and I won't need the pashmina Grin the rest I can do
