Best place for petite ranges?

I'm only 5'1" and size 8, so many things are too long on me - skirts, dresses, trousers and jeans are the main culprits. I tend to shop on the high street as my budget doesn't really stretch to high end/designer, so I stick to places like Next, Dorothy Perkins etc. However they only have small petite ranges, so if anyone could recommend any others I'd be eternally grateful. Oh, and I prefer to actually go to the shops rather than shop online, so I can try stuff on and don't have to mess about returning it, although I'd consider an online range if it was really lovely.

Any suggestions, please?

I know you just said preferably not online but ASOS can be really good for petite stuff - I'm 5ft (quite a lot curvier than an 8 though!) and I've found some lovely things there.

Thanks Gin, I've never looked on there. Is it easy/free to return stuff?

warehouse and zara tend to come up a little smaller - I'm a size 6 sometimes 8 height 5'1 and often find pieces which fit ok. I agree that many petite ranges in high st shops are pants. Miss selfridge, topshop, DP are about the best.

forgot to add I often check out the teenage section in new look (the tamer bits like vest tops, the odd top, tunic or tea-dress!)

Principles (in Debenhans only now I think), wallis, banana republic

Oh another tip (but am a bit out of date as not been in these shops for a year or so due to being on mat leave) - uniqlo shorten trousers /jeans for free if they cost over £20, and oasis will also shorten hems for free if you are a card holder.

Ginismyfriend · 16/06/2012 10:17

Yes, ASOS is free returns. That's useful info about Oasis shortening hems!

Thanks, I feel a shopping spree coming on when I get paid at the end of the month Smile.

I am so frustrated with alterations to dresses especially, i am 5'1 and have an hour glass shape figure, I'm shopping around at the moment, Jeetly petite seems to cater to my needs as the dresses are the perfect knee length for my height.
