There we go!

Hurrah! Another Gracie!

blue2711 · 21/06/2012 13:31

Whistles sale has started. The one thing I really wanted, the Carine crochet top in cream is only available in 16. Wondering about these heeled sandals? Have been looking for something similar all year but can't muster up much enthusiasm with this weather.

Also think this crochet maxi dress might look good once belted??

Here is the crochet top; if anyone sees one in JL or whistles in a 6 or 8 please let me know if possible!

blue2711 · 21/06/2012 13:37

Can't get onto John Lewis site: too busy due to sale??

On the subject of the poignancy of the ABBA 'Slipping through my Fingers' by the way, anyone seen the National Lottery ad about the mum who loved running but now her daughter has fulfilled her dreams by becoming a runner? Shamelessly manipulative but it made me well up last night Blush.

notyummy · 21/06/2012 15:00

Dear God. The dangers of daytime TV. I have just had it on in the background whilst working. There is a show on just now called 'Bridalplasty' where 10 girls compete 'to have all their bridal plastic surgery wishes come true' Shock. I'm not completely against plastic surgery btw - each to their own. But all these girls look fine and are 'winning' 8/9/10 different surgeries! Sheesh. Thanks god I only caught the final 5 minutes or I might have been glued to the whole episode in a shameful 'car crash TV' scenario.Blush

Ooh you've reminded me ny, anyone had Botox? Am considering, have shocking frown lines...

MarshaBrady · 21/06/2012 15:05

lol NY sounds intense. Thanks for music info. We have one cross over! - The Killers. I also do Gossip (so out there Wink). But need some with more oomph. Might try The Prodigy. I absolutely have to listen to music too.

Blue couldn't see one link but yes the crochet maxi could look fab with a belt.

Great tips Dona

Good work day today. Am relaxing before the pick up of two comparatively busy children.

OllieinOrange · 21/06/2012 15:43

Bit of excitement at the school gate today - someone from the TV's son has started school and was she was there for pick up. Turns out she is a friend of one of the class Mums - she isn't an A lister but I recognised her Grin She has amazing short hair which looks great and great style. Will be making notes on all future outfits as I sense a new style crush!

Nothing to be found in the JL sale for me (despite extensive searching!) so will buy these scales just to annoy DH! here

Blue I saw that ad and thought ahhhh.
Pickled so pleased the Swede job is working out for you.
Suburban thanks for looking in Primark for me. Think ours is in the middle of its sale so I am staying away - Primark at sale time is too much even for an avid shopper like me!
Red your child minders sounds brilliant. Its fate!
Breton nice to hear from you.

DonaAna loved reading your Rome Style Update. Dutch ladies at school are very much into their chinos (in beige or coral), with blazers, oversized jumpers, converse or Ash style trainers. Elsewhere the layering look is still popular but in a leggings, rouched jersey tunic and shorter t shirt kind of way.....hmm.

Like Fritzi I was shocked to realise I only have 2 more weeks of school time before the summer hols, one of which is taken up with my parents visiting! Have booked a facial, haircut and coffee with friends as pre holiday treats.

MidnightinMoscow · 21/06/2012 16:17

Exciting Ollie!

Just completed baking with DS. Kitchen looks like I have cooked a five courser for 10 and yet we only made rice krispy cakes. Grin More painful, is that we have to use Montezuma dairy free chocolate therefore ensuing that the cakes cost about £7 to make.

£7 for some rice krispy cakes, madness!!

ReineDeSaba · 21/06/2012 16:19

Quick wave..

ollie do you have 'Tiger' in Holland?Saw panamas in the window..could be worth a look?

yummy is it an American programme ifsoIwillspendthesummerwatchingit

ReineDeSaba · 21/06/2012 16:21

Wow..just missed your post mim strictly sainsbos basics choc for our brownies!

notyummy · 21/06/2012 16:57

Oh yes Reine - American!

Amber - admittedly I was assisted by lots of champagne at the meet-up, but you looked luminous to me. Lines?!?

OP posts:
Hopefully · 21/06/2012 17:24

Amber you are joking I hope!? You are waaaay too young to be poisoning yourself in the name of beauty. At least wait till you have some actual wrinkles.

MarshaBrady · 21/06/2012 17:27

Amber you really don't need it, you look lovely as you are.

ReineDeSaba · 21/06/2012 17:51

Oh dear yummy that programme sounds right up my street.

Evening all - MiM, Suburban I had a good look in Primark today where they had plenty of black star flats, but red/taupe in 3 and 4 only. The star detailing got a bit lost on the black, I think, but let me know if you fancy them and I'm happy to go back for you.

I have a question for the wonderful hostesses among you - 2 couples coming for dinner on Saturday (1 from London for the w'end and the other some local mutual friends) and really am having a brain freeze on what to cook. Other couple bringing a pudding, what shall I do?!

blossoming · 21/06/2012 19:57

Must have spent half an hour in the post office today doing returns, then another load of stuff arrived. I am keeping the Jaeger boutique top. It goes very well with indigo skinnies for a smart casual look. Maybe inset days or something...
And I am keeping this Hobbs top to go with my white denim pencil skirt. Holiday wear... DH loves the skirt.
[[http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/333444/Product.aspx this Breton top was nice, with a zip up the back, but was too big. The burgundy option had a cream background.
Went to the gym at lunch. I'm dine with college till September, and treadmill told me I'd burnt 315 kcals, but my hrm only gave me 220. Wish I'd never bought it. Ignorance is bliss.

blossoming · 21/06/2012 19:59

breton

AmberNectarine · 21/06/2012 20:08

Seriously I have terrible frown lines, it's a family trait. No 11s as yet though, just the kind you get when you raise your eyebrows, which I do all the time unconsciously. DH won't have a bar of it, but I want to stop them getting worse. I don't set any store by what he says anyway as he told me with a straight face that I am the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Gave me a good laugh at least.

mim sounds like your DS has had a lovely day. How's Gracie bedding in

ollie ooh a celebrity! Would we know her? A few of my friends at school were celebrity offspring, and I coached a drama group (house drama captain, no less) containing the daughter of a rather famous actress. No pressure. I have a friend who lives in Richmond and is v wealthy. She is neighbours with some massive names but still gets paralysing starstruck, it is hilarious. She is a v down to earth northern lass but goes weak at the knees when she bumps into one at the gym.

CM sounds awesome red, isn't it brilliant how things work out sometimes?

Am stuffed to the gills and off to drink champers with DH. Yay!

MarshaBrady · 21/06/2012 20:17

I love the way we (mostly) all go straight for the champers these days Grin

Ollie sounds good. A friend bumps into all the big slebs in W London. Lucky thing.

I always miss them. Dh goes out and they're all there.

Dh just walked in. Sheesh he had a good day in Soho House all afternoon

MarshaBrady · 21/06/2012 20:18

Bloss green / white will look fab on you.

FritziGreenEyes · 21/06/2012 20:30

red Such wonderful news about your child minder! Hope there will be enough money left from your salary now so you can get some great outfits for work.

Despite being desk-bound all week, I have managed to buy lots in the sales Blush
Maxmara slouchy cardi (Matches). Have already worn lots.
JBrand floral skinnies (MyWardrobe). Got many compliments and they are sooo comfortable.
DHL guy delivered this blouse today to replace the Zara silk one that is starting to look a bit tired. To justify P&P I also ordered this handbag which is also a keeper. Strap can be detached and will work as clutch too.
Had 30 minutes of RL shopping on Monday before I met DH for dinner and got this sleeveless blouse in white at CdC (reduced to 50 Euros). Have worn today with grey chinos. And I also bought this MassDutti boucle jacket. New season not sale but think it is a wise investment. It looks great with my silk MaxMara dress and also good with jeans.

blossoming · 21/06/2012 20:31

Thanks marsha. I lose all my 'dramatic' side when I'm on holiday!
I wish it would get hot here though. It is so hard to think of holiday wear. I worry I'm going to arrive in France without enough to wear. The ribbed tops from Jonnie B are down to £9, so I'm going to get some more of them.
Hope you get your work done fritzi. Did you buy anything in the NaP sale?
Enjoy the champers amber. I am debating opening the wine. Just to totally cancel out my double workout session today.
red, I had guests last week, got a big roasting tin out, coloured some onions, and 6 chicken breasts, added 2 packets of passata, and 2 packs of cherry tomatoes, a few basil leaves.. cook for 1hr on 160C. Serve with green salad, cous cous and nice bread? Based on this. Takes 10 mins to prepare. We had crumble for dessert made with 2 packs of frozen summer fruits and double my normal crumble topping. It was nice. Then nice cheese.
I'm banning dh from eating so much cheese. He went to see a cardiologist yesterday after a funny turn he had 2 months ago. I am really worried about him. Have told him he's having grilled chicken tomorrow night - our normal pig out night!

FritziGreenEyes · 21/06/2012 20:40

bloss x-post Smile. Sorry to hear you are worrying about your DH? Does he have high cholesterol?

ollie Has the WC dress been delivered to your parents' house? Hope you'll love it. My lovely friend has arranged for our DDs to be taken to school by her DH tomorrow morning. She is coming over to my house a bit later and we go swimming at the outdoor pool down the road before we have to supervise the BBQ for our DDs' class at lunchtime.

portia Did you manage to use the gorgeous white bag your DH gave you at all? Hope you have at least a few days holidays in the sun to look forward to soon.

FritziGreenEyes · 21/06/2012 20:44

Has anyone heard of the brand 40bumblog lady hosted a clothes party for? I liked what she got and thought the prices sounded pretty reasonable too: here
