A 100 mile round trip and came out with......................sweet FA! Even my shopaholic sister came out empty handed. (It was the one in Exeter btw). It was all very civilised and not the bun fight I expected, just full of tatty faulty returns and prices pretty much the same as what you can get on-line in the sale anyway. I even saw a pair of kids wellies covered in mud!

I went to one last month. Women were running to get in the queue.
Was appalled when I went in, everything was in plastic boxes, women were emptying entire boxes into their baskets and then taking them to the side to search through to see what they wanted. It was shameful, they were haunched over like post-apocolyptic gollums hoarding everything they could and keeping it away from everyone else.

nickiminja Grin I need to save your comment for posterity!

Thank you for the post. Was thinking of going to Exeter sale tomorrow but won't bother now. Smile

100 mile round trip - what did you do that for?
I went 2 miles to one once, it was ok, short queue a quite a lot of choice.

peachypips · 13/06/2012 20:32

Oh no!! Sorry if I misled you but when I went there was a lot of good stuff, you just had to fight to get it, which I hate! Sorry it was shite.

curiositykilledthekat · 13/06/2012 20:47

We got there about 2 hours after opening, maybe that's where we went wrong! But I would never stoop to 'post-apocolyptic gollum' type hoarding (I'm still loling at that nickiminja!) or fighting for good stuff. Seriously WTAF is all that about!

I thought it was worth the long trip as there was a Joules sale in the same place a few months back and it was amazing, well organised, stock all in order and decent stock at that, no scabby seconds. Was kind of hoping it would be the same set up but obviously not!

At least I got to spend a rare afternoon catching up with my sister without the kids in tow, we actually had a laugh (laughing at ourselves for being utter t**ts!) :)

I was going to go today, but didn't have time, so was planning on going tomorrow after work. Thanks you have saved me time!

I went to one at the begingng of the year and was slightly disapointed as it was all shorts and skirts (no winter clothes), i bought the dd's a few bits but nothing for myself, was not worth getting there so early and being squished my 100's of mad yummy mummy's. I would go again though.

rookiemater · 13/06/2012 21:33

Boden sales are pants. At the Edinburgh one they even charge you for parking. Joules much better provided you get there early.

Post-apocalyptic gollums:o

I went to one once and it was the seventh circle of hell. I've never seen so many determined middle class women with pointy elbows in the same place before or since. I managed to lose my boot in the changing rooms - found it eventually miles and miles away. Someone must have tried it on - it was my own boot, FFS. Clarks or something. Madness.
