i saw this dress in the sale today and was in two minds about whether to get it. the sales assistant says its very 'wearable'. now i can see it looks fine on the model (but then shes 5'8 and a size 10) but how would a normal wobbly person like me wear it? i mean it would be ok for the beach if we ever get any sun, but would i be able to wear it through to autumn/winter, or are stripes a bit too summery? i thought dresses would be much easier to wear/style, but maybe not! any suggestions?

I like it
Did you try it on?

4aminsomniac · 13/06/2012 18:18

I like it, and think the longer length sleeves make it wearable elsewhere than the beach. If you are happy with the lengthon you, go for it!

I have this dress in both colours and i find it so easy to wear. I just wear it with leggings and ballet pumps or boots when it's colder. I think it's quite a flattering tunic. Goes a bit bobbly in the wash though.

Love it! Am going to get it even if I look like a sack 'o' teddies!

shelley72 · 13/06/2012 19:38

Yes I did try it on quickly, it is rather short on me Shock. I think I liked it, but I couldn't imagine what to wear on my feet with it. May get it and try with boots. Am finding dressing myself much harder as I get older!

I have a version of that from a couple of yrs ago. Too short as a dress on me (big tummy makes it ride up and am 5"9). I wear with skinny jeans/leggings

I got mine today. I got a size 12 and it fits nicely (I have a size 16 tummy GrinGrin). I am petit so can wear dress on its own. Planning to wear mine to work, not the beach. A very nice fit. Thank you joules. Even slightly Wink covers my post preg jelly belly. Grin

ok, have now got my dress. the colour is good for me it fits ok, it is a few inches above the knee a teensy bit big around the middle, nothing too drastic (but i am an odd shape so i usually get this problem).

just need to work out what to wear with it footwise or i might have to take it back tomorrow. not sure im confident enough to go bare legged! megabored can i just ask, did yours have a ribbon on the zip at the back as in the photo - mine didnt! and wanttomovenorth what is the red colourway like? is it a red red, or more of a pink?

shelly, no there is no ribbon on the zip. I have seen ones with the ribbon on it though but it does not add to the dress much in any case. I plan to wear mine with black tights in the winter ( with boots) and just normal work shoes when its not too cold. Black or brown or red would go.

megabored · 15/06/2012 21:36

I got the blue dress btw.

bringmesunshine2009 · 15/06/2012 23:37

I like this, do horizontal stripes make you look fat? Or is this a myth?!

megabored · 16/06/2012 13:44

I think its a myth. I am on the prodgy side and therefore very conscious. Hmm

bringmesunshine2009 · 16/06/2012 13:50

Yup me too.

megabored · 16/06/2012 14:44

Try it out. Can't hurt. Don't discard a whole pattern (horizontal) just because. This is my second such dress and as long as the material and cut is right, it works.
