converse - socks? tights? bare feet?

what do you wear on your feet when you wear converse with skirts, dresses, shorts or cropped trousers of any sort?

i am considering getting a pair but worry about sweaty feet (rubbing, blisters, smelly) or about looking like an american high school kid from the 1950s if i wear socks..

American high school kid from the 50s is a good look.

Tights are good. Those mini socks are also good.

cybbo · 12/06/2012 22:54

Not tights! I wear those little trainer socks and tuck them under so they don't show

yellowraincoat · 12/06/2012 22:56

NOT tights?!

But tights and converse are perfect together...

Not tights... walks away mumbling

EllenParsons · 12/06/2012 23:46

Trainer socks

Rabid · 13/06/2012 01:42

Don't wear them with skirts or shorts. Ew no

Trickle · 13/06/2012 01:51

Depends on your 'look' laddered tights are cool with skirts - if that's your thing, if not trainer socks are the way to go :)

Krumbum · 13/06/2012 01:57

Trainer socks or tights.

noddyholder · 13/06/2012 08:35

I like with denim shorts but no socks. Students love them with tights

CMOTDibbler · 13/06/2012 08:38

I wear whatever goes with the outfit - tights with skirts/dresses (high opacity), trainer socks if crop trousers, socks with leggings/jeans

mewkins · 13/06/2012 09:42

I second the trainer sock tucked down idea if wearing trousers. I don't really wear trainers and skirts but think trainers socks in summer and thick tights in winter are fine.

HipHopOpotomus · 13/06/2012 11:46

I'm wearing bare feet in mine right now. No rubbing yet. Feet not sweaty but its not exactly hot is it. And they can go though the machine anyway.

I've worn them with socks (with jeans) and tights (with dress/skirts)

DialsMavis · 13/06/2012 12:24

Opaques or the little ballet pump socks from new look that are smaller than trainer socks

blondiep14 · 13/06/2012 12:29

I nabbed some of DH's 'invisible' trainer socks from Next and they're really good. My old ones I just went barefoot and they never rubbed. Did increase how often they had to go in the washing machine mind!

chipmunksex · 13/06/2012 12:57

Socks always socks!

I have been wearing converse for 30 years and cannot imagine wearing them without. They are quite thin and rubbery you need some socks.

cybbo · 13/06/2012 20:18

Why would anyone wear tights and plimsolls? Do you mean sheer tights. Can't think of anything worse!

swooosh · 14/06/2012 05:33

I wear them with frilled ankle socks. I'm 24.

I like the topshop ones

foxinsocks · 14/06/2012 05:34

I only really wear them with jeans tbh but I'm probably significantly older Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 14/06/2012 10:57

With skirts, dresses or shorts I'd either be wearing tights or be bare-legged and thus barefoot. With cropped trousers I'd go barefoot. But if you're worried about them rubbing or smelly feet, you could look for very low-cut socks. Although I usually find that even the lowest ones manage to make themselves seen!

You could use a foot/shoe deodoriser?

maybenow · 14/06/2012 19:07

cybbo i've seen lots of people wearing opaques in the same colour as the converse with either denim skirts or shorts.

mamalovesmojitos · 14/06/2012 19:17

I've seen lots of people wearing opaques with cons too. Looks fab, I just wish I could pull it off short in stature and chunky of leg .

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/06/2012 10:52

'opaques in the same colour as the converse. Shock
No no noooooo! Contrasting colours all the way.

I wear mmine with bare feet, so long as it's not too hot out it is fine :)

Also, take the laces out and replace with white elastic, this is the best idea I have EVER had, and I'm giving it to you for free! No more loopy bow laces, or uncomfortable tucking in, and you can put them on with one hand :):):)

nottonitejosefine · 16/06/2012 08:23

Trainer socks.
