Hi,
I am going to an evening do for a couple who got married abroad and I was after some advice on what to wear!
I went to a similar do a few years ago and felt massively overdressed when others turned up in sparkly tops and skinnies so hoped for some help this time!
Thanks!
Oh and I am a size 8-10, don't really want anything above the knee and am not adverse to trousers! Would be looking at £50 ish. Smile

Mmm, it's a tricky one. Personally I'd rather be overdressed than under dressed at that sort of do but don't know where you stand on that one.

Do you already have a top or trousers that we could look for something to put with? TBH you'd be hard pressed to find both for 50 quid without going cheap and nasty on one or the other.

How do you feel about maxis? this with a reasonably casual flat sandal and a chunky bracelet could be great and walk the fine line.

How tall are you? Is hard to look for a dress that'd fall on / under the knee without knowing...

MOODbyme · 13/06/2012 08:59

Maybe a knitted skirt and a top with heels and some quiet jewellery? (with some flats in your bag, so you could take off the necklace, brooch etc, maybe take your hair down, and no risk of underdressing...)

I'm pretty surprised people would risk anything marriage-related in skinnies, I don't think it's the norm anyway Shock

Ahhhh thanks that make me feeel better about being overdressed before! I wouldn't mind if it hadn't just been practically me and the bride the only ones in dresses!!
I am 5' 7...but quite petite so maxi's drown me a bit.
Maybe a budget readdress is needed - I am off to a wedding in August and need a full outfit for that (have had 3 children in quick succession so not a very good 'going out' wardrobe at the moment!)
Just above the knee is fine but no mini's!
And I don't do black - Arggggghhh I need a personal shopper!! Shock

would pink suit your colouring?
red?
grey?
pink jacquard unusual but lovely
teal - very flattering

Anything like there? Need to get an idea of what you like...

LazyDoll · 17/06/2012 13:41

Oooo thanks Procrastination I love the red and the teal - am quite olive complexion so am ok with most colours except yellow really...

Totally against my no black criteria but I keep coming back to this one with gold heels and bag??? Thoughts please? Confused

I think it's because there's no black next to my face (washes me out) and I love the accessory possibilities with the beading! Grin

Oh yes! That's fab! go for it.

I'd do a gold bag and then bright shoes to match one of the colours in the beading (or the other way around). Matching shoes and bag is rather old hat TBH.

LazyDoll · 17/06/2012 14:10

Thanks so much! Thanks I have just ordered it! Great to have the help!!
And thanks for advice on shoes/bag - have gold both but a good excuse to buy a pair of shoes....(scuttles off to check out shoes)!!
