What do you wear Converse with?

I've got a couple of lovely pairs of Cons which are really comfy and nice for days when I don't have to make too much effort, but I only seem to have 2 pairs of jeans that they go with - both boyfriend style which aren't overly flattering on me.

What do you wear yours with?

Skinny jeans, a breton top and a blazer
Chinos with a pin roll and a linen tee
Loose shorts (kind of short cargos?) and a vest

StellaAndFries · 12/06/2012 20:19

Everything! I have a black pair and a red pair and wear them with pencil skirts, skinny jeans, even my swing dresses. I am that crazy mum at the school gates though Grin

WhyTheBigPaws · 12/06/2012 20:23

Practically everything!

Skinny, bootcut or boyfriend jeans
Leggings (with a long top or a denim mini - no-one needs to see my bum!)
Rolled up chinos
Summer dresses
Long skirts
Denim or cargo shorts if it's ever warm enough

I think that's the beauty of them, they go with everything - I've got several pairs of high and low tops in different colours so have a pair for pretty much any occasion!

MrsMeow · 12/06/2012 20:35

Oh wow, lots of ideas - thank you!

I did try them with skinny jeans, but I thought I looked like an L shape Grin I am overly critical though, but then again I do have size 7 feet so maybe I really do....?

I really like the sound of chinos & cons, I'll give that a go. Leggings too (long top a definite!)

Oh I've just bought a pair of roll up jeans/shorts, haven't tried them yet.

StellaAndFries, I love your style! V similar to mine, although I don't have the confidence to wear dresses :)

slim leg jeans, like the topshop baxter ones.

MrsMeow · 12/06/2012 21:03

Hey LeOracle! How's things?

Slim leg jeans a good idea, might look better on me than with skinnies...I shall try! Thanks :)

really good thanks, think we might be able to manage to get together some time? Grin

I love my baxters, they go with everything. my jeggings look good with hi-tops too.

foxeeroxee · 12/06/2012 21:27

Im also a size 7 so was worried in the past about looking like a clown Smile
But i wear mine with pretty much everything-skinny jeans, chinos, shorts, pencil skirts and dresses.
I love how comfy and versatile (sp?) theu are.

MrsMeow · 12/06/2012 21:31

Haha hopefully v soon eh? It's been about 20 years!! I'm about to go off on placement for another 7 weeks as of next week, but then will be freeeeeeee for the summer so maybe mid August time? Would be lovely to get the kids together again :)

Foxee, they are versatile aren't they? I'd love a pair of the hi tops as well :) thank you!

Ew at with skirts.

Very careful with skinners. If you aren't thin and tall they are terrible.

Rabid · 12/06/2012 21:45

Jeansstripey top converse = mum trying imo

cybbo · 12/06/2012 21:45

I prefer with boyfriend jeans but have worn with skinnies rolled up

But then ,, I AM tall and thin, arf

noddyholder · 12/06/2012 21:49

I wear with most things I like with tea dresses and skinny jeans/leggings but have mini feet

GobbleLeKnob · 12/06/2012 21:49

Everything.

I am also tall thin and have size 7 feet Grin

thepeoplesprincess · 12/06/2012 21:55

I wear low top sneakers with everything.

Have small feet tho.

CalamityJones · 13/06/2012 06:49

Rabid, I assume that's a bad thing?

Luckily I am tall and slim. Phew Wink

WhyTheBigPaws · 13/06/2012 07:13

Rabid I don't think the OP asked for opinions on whether she would look like 'a mum', she wanted to know what to wear with her Converse. Seeing as the majority of people on MN are mums it really winds me up that daring to look like one is seen as something to avoid :( And God forbid anyone should 'try' to look good Hmm.

Rabid · 13/06/2012 07:34

Frankly. I don't give une shit.

MOODbyme · 13/06/2012 07:47

Not that they don't look great with skinnies and slims, but try out some of the looser fits and bigger volumes that are starting to become more common - these ones are reduced at Wallis, or they have plenty at River Island too.

Also, with a maxi if you're worried about your feet?

MrsMeow · 13/06/2012 16:16

Thanks everyone, some great ideas there :) Mood - loose trousers are a good idea too. I'm not sure the spot ones would suit me but I do have a black pair that may go.

WhyTheBigPaws. I agree, no one should feel bad about looking like a mum! Although im not sure how anyone can look like a mum?! People don't usually think I have DC so I mustn't look like a stereotypical one, but at 32 maybe I should go for the jeans, stripy top & Converse look Wink

MsOliveOyl · 13/06/2012 16:33

Just slouchy jeans, and only when I have to. Hate trainers, but Converse are just about ok.

MsOliveOyl · 13/06/2012 16:38

2nd that MOODbyme, River Island's wide printed trousers have been amazing lately! I've never bought any though as would have to lop about a foot off the length Grin. But they shouldn't be ruined with trainers, even converse.
