I've been looking a LONG time for some shoes to wear to a wedding in a couple of months time and have just seen these:

www.bellsshoes.co.uk/Naturalizer-Bola-A5499-Coral-Rainbow-Fabric-Sandals-Size-4-UK-NatBol010201/?gclid=CL237JHpyLACFU4lfAodhU3vWw

Are they too casual for a wedding because of the wedge material?

My criteria is not too high (less than 3 inches) something I will wear again, They can't have ankle straps either because of the length of the dress, I've tried on shoes with ankle straps and they just cut my legs up. I've bought quite a few pairs of shoes and they have all goNe back. I'm getting a bit desperate.
My dress is the same blue as the blue stripe in the shoe.

The wedding is in a town hall and the 'do' is in a pub they have hired for the day so its not overly formal but there are bridesmaids and flower girls so it is dressy.

If I were to be honest they are more shopping shoes/ beach shoes. That said depends on what you usually wear as your outfit will reflect your personality and this should not be changed for a wedding. Pumps not an option ?

porcamiseria · 12/06/2012 15:18

too beachy and cheap looking, sorry! try office for more neutral wedge sandals, or ASOS maybe?

white or tan wedges could be far nicer

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 15:24

Yeah, 'fraid they do look really very informal. Sorry. Could you maybe link to the dress - I can't see any blue in the shoes Confused

coral is always good with blue
nude - the easy option and would go with almost anything , these are a shade darker
orange often works a treat too

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 15:26

Fuck - just seen the price - they don't look like nearly 50 quids worth of shoe. Hence the newl;ook links...

imnotmymum · 12/06/2012 15:28

£50 pound really did not check out the price. I have a pair similar from QS for a fiver. If you got £50 to spend can get a lovely shoe. Really need dress to comment though.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 15:32

white wedge
Utter bargain on red or navy kitten heels

cerealqueen · 12/06/2012 15:52

Thanks all, I thought that might be the case, dress is one I've had for ages, if i get a moment I'll try and take a photo!
Coral is a good idea!
I need a heel as I'm quite short and the dress is mid calf but I've not worm heels for such a long time, I can't have anything too high, though a wedge would be good.
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning The ones on the amazon website had blue in them but yes, there is no blue in the link I've sent Confused

OK, I have officially gone off them, looking at the dress, its too dressy for that shoe.
Those KGs are lovely but they don't have my size (I'm a 6/6.5)

Ah, it looks like your profile isn't public - you need to switch it on...

valiumredhead · 12/06/2012 16:48

Yes they are very informal beach wear.

cerealqueen · 12/06/2012 20:15

i hope the the photo is visible now, grateful for any further ideas!

OP posts:
ggirl · 12/06/2012 20:20

tan shoes would look nice with that dress

ggirl · 12/06/2012 20:21

the new look coral slingbacks would look great with that dress
accessorise with similar colours and you're good to go ..as they say

DontTemptFate · 12/06/2012 20:23

I like your dress.

I don't think those shoes will add anything to it. I agree that a nice tan or red shoe would look better.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 20:40

Ah, nice dress!

Yeah, the coral slingbacks would be perfect with it. How about maybe a shawl a bit like this or this and a white or cream clutch? Anything like?

cerealqueen · 12/06/2012 22:19

I am committed to the coral shoes, i think they will look lovely, its a colour I hadn't thought of! By coincidence, I have a vintage coral bag that was my mums that I think I may use too.
Lovely scarf, ProcrastinationAteMyMorning I may get that too...

thanks everybody, I should have asked weeks ago!!

cerealqueen · 12/06/2012 22:20

sorry, meant to say, the butterfly one is so so lovely

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 23:07

I love that scarf too Grin

WRT the fab sounding coral bag - if your going to go with that I'd give the coral shoes a miss TBH. Apart from the palava with matching being so dama dated/aging the changes of them being the same shade are slim. Sorry to be a apin!

How about silver?

diamante sandals
nice vintage look about these
gold - pricey
very nice, slightly vintage feel again - too glitzy? ooh, the cream is also worth a look - less glitz
are these another version of the ones above?
or nudes - natch Wink

cerealqueen · 12/06/2012 23:22

Do you think? Its quite well preserved but clearly vintage .... hmmm. You are probably right, nothing worse than assuming something looks nice and then when you try them all on, they look awful. I still like the shoes though so will go with them and think about a different bag, the shoes are more important, and I'll be able to wear them again.
Shoes and scarf sorted. Will look for a bag tomorrow!

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 10:34

Oh no! I wasn't criticizing the bag! It sounds great - I love vintage stuff - 'tis just the thing about matching shoes and bag being 'out' that I was banging on about. Because that's quite an outdated fashion it tends look dated and therefore aging too...

No way is using a vintage piece dated or aging in any way - just fantastic Grin

But my main point was that the shoes are probably a different shade of coral to the bag - if you do want ot go matching then they need to really match properly which is highly unlikely without an endless search for shoes in exactly the right shade and after the search you've already had and with time being so short I think it'd be a nightmare.

Mind you, you could be lucky, if the shoes and bag are different enough shades of coral to very clearly tone rather than look like a failed match then you get the best of both worlds. You'll see when you get the shoes I suppose.

I saw that DP have those shoes too BTW (are a concession in both shops) and they come up a totally different shade of coral in their photos than they do in the newlook photos. Both shades, or something in between would definitely be grand with the blue of your dress but you can't ever judge colour compatibility (bag > shoes or whatever) via a screen.

cerealqueen · 13/06/2012 13:49

No worries, I get your drift!! Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!

OP posts:
LePinot · 13/06/2012 19:59

I'd wear nude KateMiddy style shoes with that dress. Then I'd get a wrap with a bit of coral in it to match the vintage bag, which sounds ossom.

Nude shoes you can wear forever and ever amen, the bag is chic as it's vintage and the wrap with a bit of coral in means it can worn with lots of other options too.
