Wondered if anyone would like a challenge to help me find a dress for an upcoming close friends wedding.
I don't like my shape very much, therefore hating pretty much anything I find. I've seen some lovely things suggested so will put it to you Grin
It had to be just above my knees, I'm 5"4'
I'm a 34e so preferably a scoop/v neck as high necks do not suit.
I'm a 12-14, big bum, small hips, small waist but big tummy if that makes sense?
And, I don't like my upper arms, other than that, I'm not fussy Grin
The killer is my budget, I'm being brought is as a gift so no more than £40. Have searched places like New Look, Next, Dorothy Perkins to no avail.
Please somebody help me!! Flowers

Hi, I'm looking for a dress too, it's for my dsd's graduation.
Bhs had some really nice dresses in at the moment they're definitely worth a look.
Have you tried eBay? I've got a few Hobbs , phase eight and monsoon dresses on my watch list which I'm hoping to get for less than twenty quid each Smile
Any dress agencies local to you? We've got two in my (very small) town and they're choc full of good quality dresses at reasonable prices.

Thanks accidental. Ive looked at eBay, there's a few Oasis/Warehouse dress I'm looking at but I showed them to my 'd'p and he said they look like funeral dresses. Hmm
So maybe blacks out.
I'm 25 so struggling for something that's not too old, whatever that may be! And not too young, down to my belly button up to my bum Grin

very flattering for your body shape - not sure if you'll like the colour
maybe?
possibly??

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 11:36

red and lovely but sleeveless

Vagazzled · 12/06/2012 11:53

George, the thought of hiring a dress terrifies me, I have a dd(3) who likes to make a mess!
Procrastination!!! I think that's it!! The 2nd one! Navy with a contrasting hem! It's lovely Grin But, what shoe? I LOVE heels so that's no problem but do I attempt to match the colour? Is it dressy enough for an intimate wedding?

Oooh, glad you like it - twas my favourite too!

I think it'll dress up just fine, will also be a good bit longer on you which will help too. Shoe wise, well, you could try and match the coral (or navy) but TBH it'd probably be a nightmare to get right and could well look, um, a bit middle aged. I'd be tempted to go with a turquoise, teal or maybe silver. Nude is an option too but a bit dull and boring IMHO.

nude sling backs
perfection in turquoise
teal beauties
barganous turquoise - probably too low
barganous turquoise again

GeorgieSwallow · 12/06/2012 15:11

which one are you talking about? can you send me the link!

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 12/06/2012 15:16

This is the dress the OP liked

Vagazzled · 12/06/2012 17:32

Turquoise or teal?! Am I brave enough? Blush
I see what you mean about matching the coral could look aged. And I'm very pale so navy shoes on bare legs may be too harsh.
I think a trip to the shops with the dress is in order Wink
Thank you Pro, you're a pro at this Grin
