Anyone else given up even thinking of buying summer clothes?

Forecast of rain till end of month. That leaves 2 months. 8 weeks.
Why do we even bother? And will the sales be huge ?

yes have given up.

Instead went to outlet store and bought some nice winter tops (long sleeve, wool) which I am now wearing.

To avoid opaque tights in summer, I am wearing fake tan on my legs and boots (brown or grey suede boots go with bare legs well IMO).

So only my knees get wet and cold.

I still have my winter duvets on....

alwaysrunninginheels · 11/06/2012 07:44

Ha ha- gave up and put my winter duvet back on too!!!!! Ridiculous in June!

Aliceinthelookingglass · 11/06/2012 08:11

yes it's depressing.
Have bought 2 summer dresses this year and several tops- will prob not wear dresses!

My biggest issue is footwear- have thin feet and find shoes hard to fit, so tend to wear either boots or converses/sandals- doesn't seen right wearing boots all year but what's the option in the rain???

whiteandyelloworchid · 11/06/2012 09:43

totally sick of this weather

orangeandlemons · 11/06/2012 10:25

I've been looking at jumpers to buy. They are silky see through things, and I want something warm and cosy. Looking at cashmere...in summer fgs!

orangeandlemons · 11/06/2012 10:37

Have just put a thermal vest on Blush

Whatever happened to "cast ne'er a clout until May's out"I seem to need my all summer. I don't know why clothing manufacturers bother producing summer ranges, the summer has been crap since the 2007. Five years, you think they would have learnt by now. Hmm

theDudesmummy · 11/06/2012 10:47

Cast my clouts at end of May as usual, and now completely freezing. I bought a bunch of lovely summery tops on eBay and now they are just hanging in the cupboard and all I want is my winter jerseys back...

BorisJohnsonsHair · 11/06/2012 11:02

And I bet there'll still be a hosepipe ban.

rainydaysarebad · 11/06/2012 11:06

I fucking HATE this fucking shit fucking weather. Just fuck off you fucking rain. Fuck off.

rainydaysarebad · 11/06/2012 11:07

We have the heating on in JUNE.....in JUNE. THE HEATING IS ON IN JUNE.

noddyholder · 11/06/2012 11:09

I am buying nothing and am seeking out cashmere and boots in sales for winter. There is no fashion that can arise in 8 weeks that can't be covered by my ridiculous wardrobe!

eurochick · 11/06/2012 11:13

I bought some lovely summary things for work last year. I did not wear them once. They haven't come out of the wardrobe so far this year either. I blame the Olympics. They were always going to lead to our rubbish summer weather being broadcast around the world!

MorrisZapp · 11/06/2012 11:18

I bought some fab Clarins factor 20 lotion two years ago. Didn't get the chance to use it.

Dug it out again last year. Didn't get the chance to use it.

Think it may now be past it's use by date. Not that I need it now either.

Am I hallucinating, or did I spend about 5 summers in a row wearing skirts and sandals every day? I remember not seeing my jeans for months on end.

Hello jeans, again. Hello parka coat. If you only knew how sick I am at the sight of you.

Toomanychoices · 11/06/2012 11:20

It started raining endlessly as soon as the hosepipe ban was impossed. I am convinced that it will only stop raining when the hosepipe ban is lifted!

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 11/06/2012 11:22

I actually really want a nice parka coat, but there aren't any around! So annoying!!! Wish they would just get their Autumn/Winter stock out already.....

orangeandlemons · 11/06/2012 11:25

I am so sick of my coat. I bought it as a kind of transtitional item lastSeptember. Never wore it is Septemebr, rarely in October, then wore all winter as so mild (apart from 2 weeks in Feb) and STILL wearing it now.I can't even get it dry cleaned due to constant use

OneLittleBabyTerror · 11/06/2012 11:55

It's depressing isn't it? I bought a lot of summer things this year because I'm going away for 2 weeks. I don't know how others can pack only 3 changes of clothes. When it's hot, I sweat and I'll need new clothes everyday. I've got all these lovely skirts and shorts in my drawers and it's depressing that I'll only be able to wear them for 2 weeks.

Oh and it's far too hot to wear the 'summer' stuff I wear here on holiday. Today, I have a wooley jumper and jeans. Sad

fridascruffs · 11/06/2012 12:16

Whenever they predict a barbecue summer it pours down. So predicting rain for a month cheers me up no end! There's hope!

fridascruffs · 11/06/2012 12:19

Here is my global warming theory: It gets warm early in the year- sea warms up early- lots of evaporation over the Atlantic- lots of clouds, chucks it down through the height of summer- clouds cool everything down so the sea cools down a bit- less evaporation- lovely autumns just in time for the kids to go back to school. Mild winters (mostly). What d'you reckon? I suppose the Met Office would've thought of it by now if there was any truth to it.

DD was born at the end of March so everyone bought her 3-6 month sized summer dresses. I had to go buy her a load of leggings and long sleeved tops! Worried that shes not going to get to wear any of them.

Blackduck · 11/06/2012 12:49

Summer holiday won't happen (for various reasons) this year, I am planning (if we can scrape the money together) a hot Christmas break then at least I can wear some of the summer stuff I have.
My feet (in sandels) actually turned blue yesterday.

EdgarAllenPimms · 11/06/2012 12:51

usually i have no cause for complaint, and get summer from April-October. last year and this year: not so much.

we have had one nice week in which i got sunburnt.

now it is raining, has rained all half term week, and looks to rain next week too.

ToastedTeacakes · 11/06/2012 12:52

Really wish there were more, lightweight, hooded coats and jackets available. I love trenches, but rarely can you find one with a hood. And even when a lightweight coat or jacket DOES have a hood, it is a sorry excuse for one, hanging limply around the face, ready to blow off again at any suggestion of a breeze.

Our rain here in the north west almost always comes with horrendous winds. Knitted hats feel wrong at this time of year, so what to do? Currently sporting thin cagoule type thing but it isn't very stylish.

Also, summer coat that covers arse, with hood ?.....probably doesn't exist.

ToastedTeacakes · 11/06/2012 12:53

Umbrellas last 5 mins so not buying any more of those.
