Red to blonde??

I am naturally light blonde.

Decided in a moment of madness about 6wks ago to go red-bright red. I like it but its a pita to keep looking 'just done'. It fades quickly and I am getting quite obvious in the sun blonde roots.

If I wanted to get back to blonde, how the hell would I do it?

Do I need to go dark/brown, then work back to the blonde? Dark doesn't suit me well btw, pale skin!

I'm guessing if I put blonde onto red, I will end up with either orange or pink hair Confused

Any words of wisdom if I do decide to go back?

I can't afford to have it sorted professionally.
TIA

I'm naturally fair and dyed my hair red myself for years. When I wanted to go back to my natural colour, I went to a hairdressers for a colour consultation. She said there was nothing they could do until the red had really really faded. She suggested using head and shoulders shampoo as that would strip the colour out quicker. So I was stuck with sort of pinky red hair and blonde roots for a while.

So my words of wisdom would be to let the sun (if it ever comes back) get to it and fade it out before attempting to dye in back.

I used that colour B4 stuff, then put a semi permanent light brown over it.

It is the colour that wont go so you will have it hanging around until it grows out i'm afraid.

I'm now having mine highlighted - stronger at ends than roots, tis a nightmare!!
