I had a splurge and bought the loose powder, bronzer and blusher. I needed some anyway so instead of buying my usual bought Liz Earle. It is fine. The powder is nice and natural but I still prefer mineral veil and won't buy it again. The blusher is pretty, I bought it in blossom and I like the colour and the bronzer is very natural so would be great for someone really pale.

So basically I think they are nice enough products but I am not sold that they are any better than anything else IYSWIM!! HTH

i like the bronzer very much, actually... am reasonably fair and find it hard to get a bronzer that just 'lifts' cheekbones etc without making me look like a clown.

The skin tint is really good.

gregssausageroll · 09/06/2012 17:42

I have the skin tint. I am preferring Clinique so far.

Sorry to hijack, Greg. Is the Superskin Concentrate oil any good. It's quite expensive but sounds very appealing.

gregssausageroll · 09/06/2012 17:49

I have it and use it but for oil I prefer Clarins. It is still good though.

I love the superskin oil. Really suits my skin and makes a huge difference. They do sell sample sizes to try and if you don't like it it is a lovely nail and cuticle oil.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 09/06/2012 21:33

oil-wise i have never had better than nuxe's huile prodigeuse, it's amazing...

formerdiva · 09/06/2012 21:47

skin tint is seriously good

Shriekable · 10/06/2012 09:06

I like the Sheer Tint. I don't think I'll be trying the new make-up any time soon as it's really expensive - the loose powder is nearly 3 times more expensive than my lovely Clinique blended face powder, the concealer is more than 3 times as expensive, and the gloss is 50% more. I'm looking to save money, not spend more! If i had that sort of money i would hot foot it down to the Chanel counter. And apparently Liz Earle is now owned by Avon - can't get it out of my head that I would be paying premium prices for Avon goods. I loved the whole philosophy of LE but you have to wonder if that will disappear over time now that they've sold out.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2012 09:23

god, i doubt it. LE is a MASSIVE control freak, from what i understand.

jalopy · 10/06/2012 11:39

Why did Liz Earle sell to Avon if her business is so successful. How does that work?

Shriekable · 10/06/2012 11:45

I don't know exactly what the deal is between Avon and Liz Earle, but as she still seems to be heavily involved I guess it's a case of selling part or all of the business, pocketing the cash, and remaining as the figurehead (what is Liz Earle without Liz Earle?) and I suppose getting a wage as well. My DH almost sold his business recently - he was going to stay on, getting same wage for same job, but would be employee instead of owner, and would have the cash in the bank.

shopalot · 10/06/2012 21:51

Omg I didn't realise how expensive it was. Just had a look as I thought the powder wasn't too bad......... But when you look at how much you get it is really expensive. Shriekable-you have shown me the errors of my ways!!!!

valiumredhead · 11/06/2012 08:32

WRT the Superskin - one of the main ingredients is rose hip oil which is meant to be amazing for your skin - I have just ordered some for a fiver from Amazon to mix in with my face cream. Will report back once it's arrived!

Interview with Liz Earle below but on the Avon thing

I have heard that you are teaming up with Avon, and you are going to the USA. Is this true?

Yes, Avon bought us 18 months ago now, and I think some people were a little bit worried when they heard that, but we remain a stand alone brand.
So it will always be ?Liz Earle?, not ?Liz Earle by Avon??

No no no, absolutely not. They didn?t buy is to change us, they bought us because they like what we?re doing. So I think our customers, hopefully, are reassured that nothing has changed and we are just going from strength to strength. We still have the same management team, Kim and I still head it. The one thing that it is enabling us to do, in today?s economic climate, is to grow safely and to fly the flag abroad. So yes, we?re hoping to go into all sorts of overseas markets. We know they?ll love it because we ship it to 93 countries around the world. It?d be fantastic to be in all those 93 countries with our own stores, but we can?t do that on our own.

Will we be able to buy Liz Earle from the Avon catalogues?

No, there?s no plans to do that.
