OK i'm going out tonight with DH's work bunch, dinner then bars etc I think...I am at the tail end of a stinking cold so I need to distract from my less than fresh-faced look with a good outfit, glam but not try-hard iykwim?

I have these shoes and this dress and thought i would either wear a black jersey blazer with rolled up sleeves or a cropped denim 3/4 sleeve jacket.

I need to decide on toe nail polish, I have most colours, was thinking either a rouge-noir type thing or a bright neon pink? And what about fingernails? Matching or french?

And what about jewellery? Bag? Scarf? How can I pull this together people? Normally I'm OK at this but my sinuses hurt and I can't seem to visualise it properly Sad Help me please Smile

is this a fairly casual night out then? i would probably go for the denim jacket but not sure it would look right with the shoes. hmm, maybe the black one would look better actually. are you planning on wearing the jacket for much of the evening?
i'd go for rouge nail polish and lips but keep the rest of the hair and makeup really simple and natural so not to look too OTT

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/06/2012 15:10

What's the weather like? If it's chucking it down (as it has done here all week) do you really want to be in heeled sandals?

Personally, I'd favour the denim jacket but with different shoes. I can't see those shoes working with a maxi dress tbh.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/06/2012 15:11

What scarves have you got? The colour of that might guide the colour of nail polish!

I like lots of silver bangles with a plain maxi and a denim jacket (but this is quite a sunshine-based look: probably not so good in the rain!).

mumofbumblebea · 08/06/2012 15:17

i think Remus is right. i think the shoes do make it look a bit try-hard, especially for a few bars. sorry. if you do want to wear them though, i'd still go for the black jacket.
jewellery - no necklace because dress has a high neck line. i'd probably just opt for a few bangles
handbag - depends on the shoes, i'm one for matching
a scarf would look cool if you opted for the denim jecket :)

FauxFox · 08/06/2012 15:32

It's not a maxi dress it's a midi so just below the knee...not raining here so that's not a problem Smile

mumofbumble the town i'm in is very glam on a weekend night - think TOWIE looking people everywhere so I will be positively frumpy in comparison to most people I should think...I want to look good but not compete with the madness (ie:i'm not orange and haven't got false hair/lashes/nails). I am going to have to try the shoes/dress combo and see I think, in my mind it was good but maybe you're right Confused

remus I have pashmina scarves in bright red, baby pink or black and floaty scarves in leopard, grey stars, beige with multi coloured flowers.

What about black nail polish? On the strength of the other thread on here today i've bought a matt top coat and I quite fancied black with alternating matt/shiny???

Like the sound of the grey stars. I love black nail varnish but love grey even more! :) No idea what TOWIE looking people are though.

good luck :-)
