Navy dress and black tights too wintery even for June?

I never post in style and beauty as I'm distinctly lacking in both, however I need your help.

I'm going out for drinks with some friends tonight for the first time in years.

Now it's raining here, but brightening up.

Ive narrowed it down to.

Crepe trousers and a peachy coloured top, the top has little sparkles on and slits in the shoulders. I will wear little goldie coloured pumps.

Or, a navy silk shift dress with tights and heels.

We will be walking a fair distance.
No tights are not an option as I have pale legs and very tanned arms.

The trousers are very comfortable and flattering. As is the dress, but the tights put me off as it's spring....

I hate getting ready to go out!

Link to dress? Could you not wear navy tights?

HotDAMNlifeisgood · 08/06/2012 13:39

navy with black?

storminabuttercup · 08/06/2012 13:40

Oh dear the dress is so old its no longer on the website. It's jasper conran, silky material with black mesh at the top from just above the boobs and round the shoulders...

The dress is navy and black?

I've committed a sin haven't I?

Maybe I'll go with the trousers and top....

Oh gawd

Don't you know you should never wear navy and black together......??!

Sorry to rain on your parade but my DW has drummed it into me that it's just so wrong....

go with trousers and top to avoid the tights in summer (what summer?) issue!

Have fun

FunnysInLaJardin · 08/06/2012 13:46

trousers and top, sounds suitably springlike but also warm if it's nippy. And yes, don't wear black tights with a navy dress. A navy and balck dress OTOH is fine.

storminabuttercup · 08/06/2012 13:51

Well you learn something new every day.

My top is very summery.

AND I get away with flats!

I like navy and black together. I would wear the dress and tights.

dexter73 · 08/06/2012 14:36

Tis tres chic apparently!!

mysteryfairy · 08/06/2012 14:40

Isn't navy and black a key trend for A/W 2012?

I wouldn't be put off wearing them together (in fact am wearing a navy/black leopard print scarf so whoever designed it didn't get the memo). However the other outfit does sound more summery so if both are equally warm I would go for that just to make a vague acknowledgement of the supposed season!

gazzalw · 08/06/2012 14:44

Will remonstrate with DW for being off-trend. But seriously it was decidedly outre in years gone by and DW will never put navy and blue together even if I do tell her it's so 2012!

mumofbumblebea · 08/06/2012 14:45

hmm i wouldn't wear tights in this miserable excuse of a season.
the other outfit sounds lovely (plus you get away with not wearing heels)

dexter73 · 08/06/2012 14:50

I guess that is the thing with fashion - it changes!!

storminabuttercup · 08/06/2012 15:33

Ok so I'm going with the top, but may wear the dress for an evening do in a few weeks...

With black tights and I'll be on trend for the first time since I was a teen :-)

Heard somewhere that black opaques in summer is now "edgy". (But that was about a year ago - so probably "passe" now!)

TBH, the weather is so awful I'd just dress as if it were February - I'm wearing boots today.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/06/2012 15:36

I really like navy and black together (a throwback to my All About Eve/semi Goth days maybe). I'd wear the dress and tights - you'll freeze/get soaked in little pumps.
