Ho dear me yes indeed. Oh yes.

I am currently sporting MATTE BLACK NAILS, with SILVER GLITTER ON BLACK as accent nails on my ring fingers.

In my opinion this makes me currently the coolest girl in the school by roughly 39.33%.

swooosh - niiiiiiice!

Madam - cool, thanks. I might try it. I don't bite any more but have a terrible habit of picking my nail polish off.

Nude with pastel tips, deffo.

Mikyahrose · 08/06/2012 20:27

Dillydolly I bought one of the magnet effect ones - think it was No.17. Looked good, but as lula said they are a bit faffy to do. You have to hold the magnet quite close - carefully not touching the nail and i dont think i kept it there for long enough.

LollipopViolet · 08/06/2012 20:28

I cheat a little bit.

I have acrylic nails and get nail art done each time I have a set of infills.

Currently sporting a turquoise with a diagonal white bit, and lots of tiny stripes of colour on the white part.

Next design needs to be purple, so I'm looking for inspiration. I'd love one of those fade designs, where one colour fades into another...

ShirleyKnot · 08/06/2012 20:28

Lula - that glittery shit looks incredible!

swooosh · 08/06/2012 20:31

I look at Tumblr or Instagram for inspiration.

Lollipop, you need ombre nails then!

This is what I want to do next:

Ciate is 25% off with this months Marie Claire plus the free Ciate nail varnish. They do a Matt top coat, I ordered one last week and a bright yellow for adventurous toes.

LulaPalooza · 08/06/2012 20:35

Mikyahrose are you named after Chanel Mica Rose Grin

Shirley - yeah, baby. I love that glittery shit.

I also have 2 other Essie glittery top coats which I love as well. Can't remember the names and too lazy to get off my fat arse and check.

ShirleyKnot · 08/06/2012 20:42

WANT to do the first one

I am gutted that I did my nails, literally a half an hour before I found this thread. They look utterly boring now.

Mikyahrose · 08/06/2012 20:42

For the purpose of this thread. Yes, yes i am.

(in reality, its just a mash up of my first name and surname. :) )

LulaPalooza · 08/06/2012 20:47

Oh my days that ombre is frickin' gorgeous, Shirley

Mica Rose can I therefore be Lula Rouge Carat for the purposes of this thread?! Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/06/2012 21:12

I love this but I'm not brave enough Ombré Skittle

Fantasy Fire looks fantastic over a bright purple (think Cadburys) polish.

LollipopViolet · 08/06/2012 21:24

So many pretty nails....

I also like the idea of purple, with a black top coat, the kind that cracks, if you get me? I reckon that'd look awesome :) I'm going to an event Friday and have a purple dress, hence the obsession with it for my nails :)

ceebeegeebies · 08/06/2012 21:39

OMG I am in heaven with this thread - tis like nail porn Grin

Well I have Fantasy Fire but didn't realise it was such a big thing - my friend bought it for me to liven up an OPI nail polish that we had bought that wasn't quite what we thought. But, my tip is that it looks amazing over a lilac polish - try it!

Well did the alternate peach and lemon nails but it looked awful - the yellow was too bright! So have done them all peach with matte top coat on them all apart from ring finger which I have put silver sparkles on - it looks good Grin

MsOliveOyl · 08/06/2012 22:22

WOW very pretty ombré.

Krumbum · 09/06/2012 01:31

I'm wearing a green holographic polish, that means it shines prisms of rainbow colours when the light hits it. Amazing! It's weird that more companies don't make holos as ppl would go mad for them!

JodieHarshHasALumpyPennie · 09/06/2012 07:56

Holograph sounds dead lush.

I might - MIGHT! - have removed my matte black and glitter in preparation for doing an ombre manicure. I have hot pink, scarlet, top coat, toothpicks, paintbrush, vaseline, foil, etc.

I said might! I also might - MIGHT! - be frantically avoiding doing some extremely important and pressing tasks Hmm

MsOliveOyl · 09/06/2012 08:52

If you like the sound of holographics and you like black and sparkly, then you need to get OPI My Private Jet, Jodie! Black with rainbow holographic sparkles!

HERE

Pleeeease post a pic and lots of tips if you do an ombré!

LadyEmmaHamilton · 09/06/2012 08:53

God you lot are bastards. This bloody S&B forum has cost me a fortune over the past year. I have now gone and ordered a stamping kit from Amazon and I am about to go into town and spunk ££ (which I will not tell DH about, no siree) on nail polishes.

I need to know - where do you all get your OPI, eBay? I have always been a fan of Rimmell polishes. Are the Barry M ones any good? Lots of colour choice.

Normally I only wear polish at the weekend (very boring, sober job) but as I am currently applying for new jobs, I say fuck it. My boss will be deeply unimpressed with my out there mani but it will make me feel like Grin every time he makes me do another thing I hate.

JodieHarshHasALumpyPennie · 09/06/2012 08:56

Argh! That one is amazing! i envision wearing it with a rather girlish dress as a sort of contrast, IYSWIM...

Will deffo post pictures of the Omb-RAY ( Grin ), whether it is a terrible failure or not. Have savagely removed dead skin with my cuticle clippers, spent about 40 minutes trying to remove the black polish (which has lent an intriguing 'died about 3 weeks ago' aspect to my fingertips Hmm ), coated surrounding tips with vaseline and done a base coat. About to go in with the sponge. And it's not even 9am! This is nail dedication, people!

OP posts:
LollipopViolet · 09/06/2012 09:27

Aaaargh, I can't decide what to do on my nails next! Sparkly, ombre, gems, I can't decide!

Actually, I need to see if my nail place does gems, they might look nice...

MsOliveOyl · 09/06/2012 10:19

ladyemma yes I get my OPI from eBay, amazon and a v dodgy nail bar in the back of a crappy shopping centre that sells them for £8. I never usually pay more than £8 a bottle unless it's a really unusual or rare one on eBay, then I can't resist!

MsOliveOyl · 09/06/2012 10:20

Barry M is great for the price, ESP their version of Chanel paradoxal which is identical!

ShirleyKnot · 09/06/2012 10:39

I am very excited Jodie.

Last night, after a glass or three of wine I painted one of my nails GOLD. It looks very pretty although slightly as though I've been trying on colours in boots. Grin

JodieHarshHasALumpyPennie · 09/06/2012 10:54

I am exhausted.

It looks nice, but far from perfick. But I'm a bit chuffed with it as a first attempt! The colour contrast is fairly subtle...I think next time I'll go with peacock blue fading to gold at the tips

Arf at trying on colours in Boots Grin. Fond memories there...
