Clinique Super City Block peeling?!

I bought Clinique super city block SPF 40 the other day as my MAC SPF 50 primer was coming to an end, but I have found it has this slightly weird peeling effect. It kind of flakes on my skin and doesn't leave a smooth surface. I have had this before with a Nivea moisturiser but normally never have this problem... has anyone else experienced this with super city block and is there anything I can do to stop it? I really want to like it as it's a bigger tube than the MAC one, and cheaper!

Do you apply it straight after moisturiser? I sometimes get this if I don't let my moisturiser soak in long enough beforehand. I use the SPF 25 though, so perhaps the composition is a bit different.

Yes, I get the same thing, so I just kind of push / pat it in.

You might be using too much.

I use the amount of a 5p piece all over my face and have no flaking.

Have you used Clinique in the past, OP?

I don't get on with their products tbh. They irritate my skin.

Lemon, yes, I use loads of Clinique and love most of their products, which is why I was particularly gutted that this one didn't seem as good!

I put it on about 10 mins after moisturiser, which is normally fine for other primers, and I wasn't using loads. I patted it a bit more and just put my makeup on anyway and it seems alright now... will perserve with it and hopefully this won't happen every time!
