Dermologica v liz earle

Hi, I am currently using Liz Earle skincare range. I believe it is now owned by avon. Whenever I have had facials all the therapists rave about Dermologica products. What do you recomend ? Is the price about the same as Liz Earle ? Because with Dermolgica you can buy them in big sizes does it work out reasonable?

One time my sister bought me some Liz Earle for Christmas, she still recieves the brochure, she says we are paying for all that, beautiful packaging etc.

Because money is quite tight, I want to be economical and not ripped off. I believe Jersey Beauty is the place to buy Dermologic?

I loved LE but went off her big time once she sold out to Avon! Tbh that wouldn't have bothered me so much but the formula of C and P was changed and it's nowhere near as good these days imo.

I realise that doesn't answer your question at ALL Grin

supernannyisace · 07/06/2012 16:24

I have used both in the past. Both are good.

If I had to choose I would go for Dermalogica. Justseemed to be more suitable for my skin. But the LIz Earle makes up for it with the lovely smells.

Price wise I bet they work out the same. The Dermalogica seems pricey, but it lasts a long time asyou only use a tiny bit of product.

purple15 · 07/06/2012 16:31

What is the cleanser most similar to the Hot Polish, I love that. Dont think the LIz Earle moisterizer is that clever, I just seem to get them when they are in a set.
When I have been on the Dermologic website I seem to have senstive and alittle bit of acne, gosh, it takes ages for me to make up my mind which products to choose.
Do you think I should have a facial, so the therapist can tell me which products, If I get the wrong products it is a expensive mistake.

So avon bought Liz Earle???

purple15 · 07/06/2012 19:08

Yeah about 6 months ago I think, dont think it will be as good now.

The Liz Earle cleanse and polish gave me a rash. Personally i think it's the technique - thoroughly massage in cleanser, remove carefully with a warm damp cloth - that does the trick, rather than the cleanser itself.

I really like Dermalogica's oil cleanser - it turns to a milk with water so it's really easy to remove, and their ultra calming cleanser is fab too. IMO they're pretty economical.

purple15 · 07/06/2012 19:33

thanks polly will check out the oil cleanser and ultra calming cleanser.

I have switched from Liz Earle to Shu Uemura's cleansing oil. Beautiful, gorgeous stuff. Don't think any other S+Bers use it that I've read but I can't recommend it enough. Turns milky when you rinse like someone upthread said the Dermalogica one does. I do have Ultracalming but don't really like it as I wanted a cleanser for when I cba with water, and Ultracalming claims you can just wipe it off - not so. I only wear sunblock most days and it struggles to remove that far less actual makeup. Is prob fine with water though.

no 7 hot cloth cleanser is as good as LE if you're interested

KateSpade · 07/06/2012 20:15

Ive used both, and whilst dermalogica is good, personally i would go for the LE C&P over any dermalogica cleanser.

I do find Dermalogica quite expensive, around £30 per cleanser, with LE its not as expensive as you have the option to buy a smaller bottle. I can only buy it online, LE though, & That is annoying!

purple15 · 07/06/2012 20:16

ggirl, how much is the no7 ? Does it work out cheaper than LE?

OP posts:
purple15 · 07/06/2012 20:38

just checked out Shu Uemuras website, way to expensive for me. LE stretches it a bit but thats the most I can afford.

Itsgottabebags · 07/06/2012 20:50

You can buy LE over the phone too!

purple15 · 07/06/2012 20:53

Just checked out the No 7 Hot Polish . It £10 and three for two. So a lot cheaper than LE has anyone else had experience of No7?

I have one No7 hot cloth cleanser, but IMO its nothing compared to LE

purple15 · 07/06/2012 21:02

dont really know about these threads, what does IMO mean ?

In My Opinion (i think..)

lovetomatoes · 07/06/2012 21:19

I find the No.7 does as good a job as C&P, as in it cleans thoroughly but isn't anything like as much a pleasure to use. C&P smells really nice, especiall
y on a hot day, and has a creamier feel. So I use the No.7 most of the time and just buy the LE now and again. It's hard to justify the price difference when the No.7 is so often on 3 for 2 or with the money-off vouchers it's even cheaper.
dermalogica is an excellent brand but expensive even if you buy the big sizes. the ultra-calming has a really luxe feel and would be worth it for problem skin but if yours isn't hypersensitive I'd spend the money elsewhere eg on a good serum/moisturiser..

ggirl · 07/06/2012 22:08

sorry for delay in replying purple-the no7 works as well in my experience but as lovetomatoes said it doens't smell as nice
but for the price it does a good job

Chicksy · 07/06/2012 23:00

Another vote for Shu Uemura's cleansing oil. Have used LE and Derm in the past and my skin was terrible and quite spotty. SU has helped me a lot.

I know it seems expensive but you need so little it works out not so bad

LuvileeJubilee · 08/06/2012 23:30

Yy chicksy it says to use 3-4 squooshes of oil, I only use one which is adequate if I'm only wearing sunblock and am about a quarter through the pot after a month so err should last 4 months. For £26ish. Think that's not too bad, will splash out on the big size next time as works out cheaper.

It's lovely stuff. Am trying to convert more MNers Smile

Chicksy · 09/06/2012 01:39

LuvileeJubilee I started using it after seeing it mentioned on here, if that was you thanks so much.

I only use 1 squoosh of oil too and its a perfect amount.

Wish I had found it before forking out a fortune for nothing on LE and Dermalogica. In all honesty dont get all the fuss about Dermalogica at all.

shopalot · 09/06/2012 08:29

In my opinion you are not only choosing the products for how they work. I personally like Liz Earle over demalogica as there are no minerals oils and fewer parabans etc so it does depend what you want to use rather than only which is best.

That aside I can really recommend the bare escentials purifying cleanser for a budget and easy cleanser. It is £15 but lasts ages and ages.

LuvileeJubilee · 09/06/2012 11:38

shopalot you're right there's more to product choice than effectiveness - I'm sure OCM is similar to Shu Uemura but I'm shallow and like the packaging and smell of the SU products Blush

purple15 · 09/06/2012 16:01

Been to boots and got samples of their NO7 Hot polish, it looks so much cheaper, just hope it does the trick,
