Do you use BB cream? do I need it?

I bought my friend some for her birthday, it wasnt an expensive brand but it was still £8 for a small tube. She's raving about it. What is it? Is it a tinted foundation? I havent seen it in the shops appart from the one I bought. Is it always called BB cream?

BB cream is a re-packaged tinted moisturiser. If you like a full coverage from your foundation, don't bother. This is a light coverage as with a tinted moisturiser.

I like a medium coverage, so i don't bother.

It stands for beauty balm or Blemish balm, but same thing under a different name.
