Boring black shoes needed.

Sorry, not the most exciting S&B question, but today's boring office outfit (black wide-legged maternity trousers, grey stretch top, scarf) is not exactly enhanced by the somewhat down-at-heel shoes I am wearing. Any idea of what sort of flattish black shoe would go with wide trousers, somehow the ubiquitous ballet flat does not really look right?
I did look at the feet of my fellow commuters for inspiration but none was forthcoming, far too many people in trainers.

I did jolly the whole thing up with a purple trench coat, in this weather something bright was needed.

I think with wide leg trousers you really need a pointy toe, like zis. I friggin love Marksies shoes for work, we're else can you get a pair of decent plain black work shoes for £15 in half sizes? Anyway, I digress. If you would really prefer flats, Davina McCall has rather randomly launched a sensible shoe range for next with some nice flats, although they are slightly more "out there" colour wise, here. Those fushia ones are lovely!

I am investing waaaay too much time in this.

Ooh, I don't agree that wide leg trews need pointy toes, I think that would look wrong and a little silly.

Nice round toe shoes all the way Smile. Still, it's just a matter of different tastes etc....

Thanks, that's a good start. I think I like the round toed ones in Sells' first link best. I had also wondered if a loafer-type shoe would work? I'm a bit worried about it all looking too sensible (surrounded by sensible German footwear).

I was worried that this topic would be too boring to even get a reply.

Rocket dog has 60% off everything this weekend, you might find something on there. Good luck
