Stripey Highlights

I had a full head of highlights recently, I have dark blond/light brown hair and wanted it lightened up iyswim. The hairdresser recommended differing shades of blond to achieve this look.

My hair now looks quite stripey with the contrasting colours, a look that I hate.

I know the hairdresser and really don't feel like I can go back and explain nor can I afford to pay out again.

Any ideas what I can do myself? If I put on a colour Inbetween the 2, would that help??

Help!!!!

I know nothing about hair but maybe you could change your parting around a bit, would that help?

Also, I'm sure after a few washes it won't be so stripey and will blend better.

I'm sure something who knows about hair colour will be along in a minute to help!

Thanks, I tried moving the parting around and tbh it looked even worse! I thought I might get used to it after a few days but it's really not happening Sad

Hi, By the sound of it, op's hairdresser coloured using hi lift tints, You could strip the colour with head and shoulders shampoo, keep re lathering and leave it on, It will fade the colour and even it out eventually.

When you colour over it should take evenly. You will have to use a dye that contains ammonia over bleached hair and highlights or the colour wont grab.

There was a new thing advertised on TV that strips the colour. But I bet it isn't as stripey as you think!

I had a similar problem, but even worse round the back where I'd had it quite cropped. - I looked like a speckled hen! I was really upset and spent weeks waiting for it to fade (which it never did) or grow out. They were miserable weeks, and with hindsight I would have gone back to the hairdresser and asked them to sort it out.

Don't try anything yourself - it's so tempting, but you'll likely make things worse.
