Long denim skirt -- what to wear with it

I have a long denim skirt -- it has buttons down the front and stops mid calf. What top would you wear it with?

Or it is just frumpy and should I stop wearing it?

That's a difficult length to pull off although I seem to remember Stella McCartney did something similar either last summer or year before which was paired with wedges but can't for the life of me think what top.

I think it doesn't have to be frumpy, but depends what you wear it with - personally I'd go something like a plain fitted tee, ballet flats and a statement necklace.

Other option for me would be high wedge sandals, and a vest top that's loose but looks good tucked in - you definitely want some definition around the waist with a skirt that length.

Bit shorter than yours but here's <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=stella+mccartney+a-line+denim+skirt&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1586&bih=900&tbm=isch&tbnid=25tk8IGDzmXxjM:&imgrefurl=www.denimblog.com/2011/07/claudia-schiffer-in-a-stella-mccartney-denim-skirt/&docid=xNbNiISEVOrYMM&imgurl=www.denimblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/claudia-schiffer-stella-mccartney-denim-skirt-3.jpg&w=580&h=1140&ei=tQjKT5-1DKeU0QWNraXtAQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1152&vpy=100&dur=4026&hovh=315&hovw=160&tx=92&ty=149&sig=106889118181324983211&page=1&tbnh=157&tbnw=94&start=0&ndsp=35&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0,i:81" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Claudia's spin on it

Thank you. The link and ideas are useful. Will definately try on with wedges and some definition at the waist.
