S&B AIBU: swimwear

Browsing at swimwear in M&S (sorry) yesterday. Two women next to me also browsing. One picks up a swimsuit and looks it over. Her friend says 'Ooh, no, not a swimming costume, they're so frumpy. Everyone should wear bikinis. They are much more flattering'.

Neither lady was young or slender.

I haven't worn a bikini in 10 yrs. Am 35, reasonably slim, but but have had two c-sections and other major abdominal surgery and my stomach is a car crash.

AIBI? Am I 'frumpy' because I don't want to show off my stretch-marked, surgery-scarred belly to the whole world?

Disclaimer: I don't wear frumpy black Speedo cossies.

Aside: The woman who thought swimwear was frumpy was wearing Crocs Grin

See I have recently concluded from studying people on the beach that a really good swimsuit can look much more stylish than a bikini. So I don't think you ABU.

I have a c section scar and stretch marks that would seem to indicate that I actually give birth to an elephant Hmm

Swimsuits are the ONLY way to go!

Mine is black bottom with an empire line top half in turquoise with boob support. It actually makes me look slim!

i cant wear a bikini and have no need as ive not bee on holiday since pre kids but id presume that a tankini would look more modern than a swimsuit for the beach, swimsuit for actually going swimming

Ignore them, they probably then went to browse "trendy" Per Una! Grin
