Postpartum weight loss

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!-I am after people's experiences I losing weight postpartum. I had a c section (almost 10 weeks ago) and lost a couple of stone really quick but have an extra 10 pounds that just seems to be stubbornly hanging around for weeks now, no matter what I do diet & exercise wise! Is it normal to plateau like this? My tummy is going down nicely which is a plus so I'm thankful for that but would be nice to know the weight will come off sometime!!

My extra weight didn't come off until I finished breastfeeding.

It took me just over 9 months to get back to my normal weight with DS1.

With DS2, I suffered from a thyroid condition, and lost all of my pregnancy weight, and a bit more, in less than 3 months. It was awful, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I put on a stone while breastfeeding my twins. Stopped at 5 months and have only just managed to shift that stone 4 months later. Nothing is falling off me though. Am dieting like mad. Another 2 stone to go...

I found it really hard, added to that I'm small framed so the weight was really obvious (prob only to me now I look back). I was very lax about it after the first two, complained alot but always knew I wanted a third child. Followng the birth of the youngest it was very hard work but around the 1 year mark I finally felt I had got there. Then, mysteriously managed to lose weight alot more easily during the second year, I think because eldest was then at school so much more walking in general every day. hth

I was able to exercise properly from about 10 weeks, and did Shred and ran a bit. I think it can be a bit harder to lose weight while BFin because if the huge appetite, but I managed to get back to my pre preg weight within about 5 months I think. Then, of course, I gained a bit back and have only now, 6 months later, lost it again Smile

Thanks guys that is useful feedback - guess I need to be a bit more patient Smile

I just want to say I think you are doing brilliantly well. I didn't really lose mine until I weaned and almost stopped BF. Loads just dropped off then, then I was spurred on. Something that works for me is a 'kick start diet' at the start of the week then eat healthily for the remaind

bonzo77 · 01/06/2012 16:38

I also has a CS. I was back to pre preg weight definitely by 4 months. I gained 24lb total, and lost the first stone in 12 weeks. I walked loads (about 5 miles a day) and did slim fast to shift the last 10 lb.

SootySweepandSue · 01/06/2012 16:41

I think you're quite fortunate! I gained 3.5 stone and it took nearly 18 months to get it all off! Just giving some perspective...

Sounds pretty normal to me! I think it took about 5 months for me, although frankly I didn't watch what I ate at all. It was all bf and walking miles with the pram (plus additional exercises - weights/running.) If you have lost 2 stone already you are doing well. Some people find some additional weight stays on until they have finished bf. It may also depend on what you are doing exercise wise - your body could have got used to it, and you may need to try something else to kick start it.

suntodayplease · 01/06/2012 18:47

18months for me too, you're doing v well so far. BF helped, but I ended up putting weight on when I weaned! I now weigh less that I did when I got pg. I think the toddler does not stop moving diet helped!

Chicinwellies · 01/06/2012 19:32

Hehe you're doing well - def be patient. I had two 10lb 8 babies in the space of two years, and three years on I am within a few lbs of 9st again. I was 13 1/2 stone on due date no2. My GP & HV helped me and Power Pilates helped even more x
