I've only bought ankle boots there but size wise they were just about spot on. as for returns, I think you can return to stores ( always a decider for me) but check the terms online

Mominatrix · 01/06/2012 06:35

Aldo has American sizing, thus runs small. I'd go half a size up from your usual.

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 13:03

bugger. i think the ones i wanted dont come in 1/2 sizes. that means without a doubt that a 4 will be small and a 5 will be big.

no aldo stores near me.

I haven't found it small TBH. I have about four pairs of shoes and boots from Aldo, and they are all spot on for my size (8). If anything, they are a teeny weeny fraction generous, but not significantly so.

hatcam · 01/06/2012 19:43

I am having the biggest shocker with returning shoes to Aldo, I would NOT recommend at all.

(but I think the sizing is pretty much spot on)

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 20:16

why hatcam? do tell....before i order please.

Seeing this thread earlier about sizing reminded me to order some boots from their sale section and the buggers have cancelled the order as sold out. So annoying! If you haven't got the stock don't pretend you have!

hatcam · 01/06/2012 20:28

To be fair it's partly my fault! I have lost the receipt from the post office (tbh who hasn't, in between the kids and work blah blah) but my return follows a litany of card processing issues (their end, not my card), late delivery, requesting returns labels which came via email amd were corrupt, diffident customer service etc

I think what I object to most is that they begrudgingly take my money, deliver my shoes and then make it really difficult to send them back. Every request for info took days to come back. I totally take responsibility for the fact I don't have proof of postage but I think that I ordered and returned in good faith and they should have a little faith in their customer base, rather than working from the assumption they are all lying thieves on the make (which is how I am being made to feel!). Meeting halfway would at least make me feel better. I ordered 2 pairs of shoes, totalling £130. So I'm £130 out of pocket while Aldo are £130 better off.

Rant over. And breathe.

Order your lovely shoes and have a thick skin for customer service in the loosest sense of he word if you want to return. And hide your royal mail receipt from marauding toddlers who may want to empty your wallet!!

MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 20:29

I've found it depends on the style - I can sometimes get away with a size 4 with an insole, but generally the 3 is a good fit. (I'm a 3.)

Hope they aren't too painful for online returns though as anything I've bought from there (or from Dune, who are always bang on size) has lasted really well.

If there's a particular shoe you had in mind I can toddle off and do a spot of digging elsewhere if you like? (Shoes are sort of a 'thing' of mine Grin.)

Firawla · 01/06/2012 20:29

im inbetween 2 sizes and had to go with the bigger of those in aldo

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 20:31

oh dear - well forwarned is forearmed then! thanks for that.

so the sizes are pretty much spot on though?? im not sure whether to order a 4 and a 5 and return one....but seeing what you just said hat im not sure!

OP posts:
ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 20:33

moonlight - i want to order the wagaman shoes in neutral.

OP posts:
MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 20:35

Right, will go and have a look (not promising mind, but will do my best!).

hatcam · 01/06/2012 20:38

Oh don't be swayed by my rant, I think if you kept your receipt in a safe place you would be fine!

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 22:38

yep thanks moonlight - i want a platform and the only ones with a platform from debenhams are sold out in a 4.

so aldo it is. just waiting for payday.

defo do not want a peep toe.

OP posts:
ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 22:40

i would have been totally happy with the nude one from M & S at 20 quid but they have stopped doing it in nude!!! bastards.
grrr

OP posts:
MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 23:03

I had a feeling you'd say that about peep-toe...but, on the plus side, they're lovely shoes!

MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 23:07

Umm, want to risk an eBay purchase? nude patent

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 23:20

that looks suspiciously like the M&S on moon! unfortunately i needed a 4.5 and they dont have them on ebay either.....

see. im awkward.

OP posts:
MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 23:23

Blast, foiled again!

[Mutters darkly and wanders off to obscure bits of the interweb]

MoonlightandRoses · 01/06/2012 23:23

Although, could you do a size 5 with insoles? You could try on with the non-nude pair in Marks first to see?

[Hopeful emoticon]

ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 23:37

i am running out of time.....

i need them for 6th june. i seem to be very much between sizes at certain stores these days.

id have kept the next ones with an insole if they hadnt looked so bleeding odd with the stuck on platform bit....

loving the aldo ones so might take a risk and order a size 4 and 5 and then send one back....assuming one will fit.
which is unlikely if my track record is anything to go by.

OP posts:
ThatVikRinA22 · 01/06/2012 23:38

actually - i only need them for 6th june if i can get about 4lbs off.....it all depends on if i can get into a certain dress....

Five days - easy:

No added salt to anything, no alcohol, chocolate, crisps or anything of a bombay mix / nibbles, 'just one more biscuit' type nature.

Meals for next five days:

Breakfast: Porridge with smidgen of cinnamon and chopped or grated apple, or natural yoghurt with raw oats in

Lunch: fish, salad leaves, herbs & oils / bean sprouts / wholemeal bread (proper health-foody or homemade ideally)

Supper: chicken with skin removed but herbs & garlic, new potatoes (not too much butter, but some) or bread again, grilled pork with fat cut off, herbs and garlic

Snacks: Natural yoghurt (not greek), Organix baby rice cakes in blueberry, blueberries / rasperries /strawberries in the fruit line, nuts

By the way, the lack of variation is deliberate - people tend to eat less over time when they have to eat the same thing frequently apparently.

Worked for me when I had to shed a few pounds in a hurry anyway...Best thing about it is it's seriously low effort to prepare - necessary when you're knackered and just want junk food.
