Okay....I am 38 and am having to face facts that I am now a middle aged woman. I am tired of the artsy kooky look of old. I aspire to dressing as classically as possible but do not want to look like I have raided the biddy section at M&S.

I also admire Angelina Jolie's style.

What colour would you describe her hair as?
What shops are worth looking at in pursuit of this look?
Any advice most welcome.

TIA.

Can't work out if you want to dress like Valerie, Angelina or both. But I'm guessing you're thinking of Angelina when she wears stuff to UN meetings rather than when she's glamming it up?

So you're looking for tight jeans, loose tops, blazers, tank t-shirts, that sort of thing? I would have thought with your current artsy look you could probably just sort of Angelina it by wearing a rolled up blazer over a long dress/skirt, some nice sandals and a long necklace, big shades and cascading hair. Good luck with that!

Well I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I'm looking for some lovely basics in a palette of greys, beige, cream, nudes, black and tans. Sort of quality understated clothes really.

I have worn very bright clothes in the past but I have lightened my hair and am letting my grey grow in and so a subtle palette seems more fitting.

I see a lot of similarities in the way both women dress.

I like silver jewellery and am a summer in terms of colouring. I have just completely gone off the Birkenstocks casual look. I have been doing that since my early twenties and feel a change coming on.

Thanks for all your responses so far. Oh and I loathe jeans.
